D.J. Trahan

Father, Don, who has recorded 13 career aces, got him started in the game. Dad is a golf instructor in South Carolina. Shortly after being born his parents moved to Hilton Head Island, S.C., where he spent his younger years playing at Harbour Town Golf Links and where he attended Hilton Head Island High School. He then moved to Spartanburg, S.C., where he attended and graduated from Paul M. Dorman High School, playing both golf and baseball. He attended Clemson University. Helped lead Clemson to the 2003 NCAA title, the first in school history. Was NCAA Player of the Year the year before that. He won the U.S. Amateur Public Links in 2000 and represented the USA in the 2001 Walker Cup and the 2002 Eisenhower Trophy. Played in the 2001 Masters as an amateur, missing the cut.
After turning professional in 2003, he went to PGA Tour Q-School, finishing T-44th which got him on the Web.Com Tour. Trahan spent 2004 on the Web.Com Tour, winning the final full-field event of that season at the Miccosukee Championship. He finished 26th on the money list which missed out on getting his PGA Tour card until he went back to Q-School and finished T-11th which got his PGA Tour privileges for 2005.
2004 Web.Com Tour Summary: Tournaments entered - 27; in money - 16; top-10 finishes - 5; scoring average 71.08 (ranked 52nd); money $183,030 (ranked 26th); Winner Miccosukee Championship.
Between 2005 and 2013, played on the PGA Tour. He won twice at the 2006 Southern Farm Bureau Classic. 2008 Bob Hope Chrysler Classic. Between 2006 and 2010 he won over a million dollars a year, his best year was 2008 when he finished 26th on the money list with earnings of $2,304,368. In 2012 he finished 156th in the FedExCup standing missing the playoffs for the first time in six years. He had to return to Q-School and withdrew after two rounds giving him limited status for 2013.
2013 Notes: Only was able to get into 16 events, made eight cuts with one top-10, a T-8th at the Puerto Rico Open. Finished 175th in the FedExCup standings and 167th on the money list. Made the cut in three of six Web.com Tour starts, with a T-10th at the Chitimacha Louisiana Open his best. Made two cuts in four starts in the Tour Finals. Best week was a T-32nd at the Hotel Fitness Championship. Since there was no more PGA Tour qualifying, his only option was playing in past winners categories or sponsor invites.
2014 Notes: Played full-time on the Web.Com Tour in 16 starts only made four cuts, best finish was T-11th in the News Sentinel Open. On the PGA Tour played in five events, best finish T-39th at the Barracuda Championship. Went to Web.Com Tour Q-School and finished T-54th, getting limited access to the Web.Com Tour in 2015.
2015 Notes: Played in 13 events on the Web.Com Tour, only made four cuts and one top-25, T-21st at the Colombia Championship. Played in five PGA Tour events, best was T-38th at the Puerto Rico Open.
2016 Notes: Finished T-10th at the Sanderson Farms Championship.
