Shot 71 at the Marysville, Calif., sectional to qualify for the 2011 U.S. Senior Open. Pitched in from 20 yards on the last hole for birdie to get into a 2-for-1 playoff, which he advanced through.
First USGA event was the 1973 U.S. Amateur at Inverness where he lost in the third round of match play. Also played in the 1974, 1994 and 1995 U.S. Amateurs and the 1970 U.S. Junior Amateur. Was a three-time All-American selection at Stanford, earning honorable mention honors his sophomore year and third-team honors his junior and senior year. Was the No. 1 player on the Stanford golf team for three years. Won 2011 Sacramento County Senior Championship and the 2009 Sacramento Senior Championship. Is good friends with John Norville, who wrote the 1996 golf movie, "Tin Cup." Norville asked him what a good cure for the shanks were, and his response made it into the script of the movie. Is an avid reader, having graduated with a degree in English from Stanford, and reads six books a month. Is a money manager with Baskins Asset Management. Enjoys spending time with his wife and four daughters.
