Doug Williams

Began playing the game of golf around the age of 12 years old and credits his father and older brother, Jim, for introducing him to the game. Says his most memorable golf experience was playing St. Andrews in the 1981 British Amateur and shot 29 on the front nine, then was forced off the course after being 8 under par to prevent him from going for the course record. Also mentioned the time he was living in France and was asked to caddie for Jack Nicklaus in a special two-day head-to-head match against Seve Ballesteros in 1982 and serve as interpreter at his golf clinic. Lives in Hong Kong but spends his summers in Honolulu. Graduated from Stanford in 1980 and then went to UCLA to get his MBA. Has lived mostly in Asia since 1985 and recently retired from developing golf courses in Southeast Asia. Worked closely with Gary Player for five years to help spearhead the development of a public course in Hong Kong. Has lived in Spain, France, England, Hong Kong, China, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand. Enjoys scuba diving, spear fishing, horseback riding, bass fishing and skiing.
In addition to his diverse background, Williams has enjoyed a very successful amateur golf career. Played against Michelle Wie, who was 11 years old at the time, in the Hawaii State Match Play Championship (Manoa Cup). Has won many different tournaments, including: the 2010 and '11 Hawaii Golfer Senior Championship, the 2011 and '12 Hong Kong Golf Association Spring Tournament, the Macau Amateur in 2001, '05 and '09, the San Diego City Senior in 2013, the Hong Kong Mid-Amateur in 2006, '08 and '09, the Hong Kong Senior Championship in 2013 and '14, the Oceanside City Senior in 2012 and '13, the Hong Kong Kau Sai Chau International Amateur Open and the Hawaii State Open Senior Amateur in 2011. Has multiple other victories and dozens of runner-up finishes.
He recently fell short at the 2014 Hawaii State Mach Play Championships, where he lost in the semifinals and was runner-up at the Long Beach City Men's Senior Championship after he shot 4 under par.
Played in 2014 U.S. Senior Open, but missed the cut after 84-91.
In 2015, finished 15th at SOS Senior Masters, a tournament run by the Society of Seniors.
