Edward Loar

His father tried to get him to play right-handed but Edward kept to his natural side. Enjoyed a standout college career at Oklahoma State where he won five times. Helped the Cowboys capture their ninth NCAA Championship in 2000, defeating Georgia Tech in a playoff. College teammates include PGA TOUR players Charles Howell III, Bo Van Pelt and Boyd Summerhays. Was a three-time, second team All-America selection and a third-team All-America choice the other year. Member of the 1998 Palmer Cup Team and 1999 Walker Cup team. Won the Sunnehanna Amateur title in 1999 and 2000. Won the 1997 Southwestern Amateur and the 1999 Southern Amateur. Finished second to Howell at the 2000 Big 12 Conference Championship.
When he wasn't able to qualify for either the PGA or Web.Com Tour went over and played on the Asian Tour full time between 2002 and 2006. Won twice on that tour, the 2003 Thailand Open and the 2004 Kolon Korean Open.
At the end of 2006 finished T-58th at Q-School which got him on the Nationwide Tour for 2007.
2007 Web.Com Summary: Tournaments entered - 19; in money - 8; top-10 finishes - 1; scoring average 71.21 (ranked 78th); money $55,226 (ranked 102nd); Best finish, T3rd Utah EnergySolutions. Lost his Tour card and wasn't able to get it back until the end of 2010 when he finished T109th at Q-School giving him limited access to Web.Com Tour in 2011.
2011 Web.Com Summary: Tournaments entered - 12; in money - 6; top-10 finishes - 0; scoring average 70.43 (ranked 60th); money $21,643 (ranked 139th); Best finish, T17th Mexico Open. Returned back to Q-School at the end of the year and finished T18th which got him a PGA Tour card for 2012.
2012 Notes: Played on both the Web.Com Tour and PGA Tour, won the Web.Com Tour's Panama Claro Championship in March after not getting a playing spot in that week's Honda Classic on the PGA Tour. It was his first win in 40 Nationwide Tour starts. He became only the sixth left-handed Tour winner. Had a four-shot lead entering the final round, which he lost on the front nine of one of the toughest courses on Tour. Nailed a 6-footer for par on the last hole to avoid a five-man playoff. On the PGA Tour played in 23 events, making 7 cuts and only one top-25 finish, T25th at Puerto Rico Open . Finished year 210 on the money list forcing him back to Q-School. Finished T32nd missing his tour card by two shots.
