Elizabeth Tong

Began playing the game of golf around age 5 and credits her mom for introducing her to the sport. Lists Tiger Woods, Annika Sorenstam and Karrie Webb as also influencing her towards playing golf.
Prior to her collegiate playing days at Indiana University, Elizabeth won the Ontario Junior Girls' Match Play and Ontario Juvenile Girl's Championship in 2009. The following year, she notched wins at the AJGA CorseMax Philadelphia Qualifier at Penn Oaks, the Toronto District Colleges Athletic Association Golf Tournament and the Sydney Mulqueen Tournament, where she shot her best round of the year, 70.
In her freshman campaign at IU, had the third-best scoring average on the team at 77.20. Her best finishes included a seventh and eighth place at the IU Invitational and Lady Northern Intercollegiate, respectively. Also participated in the BIG 10 Championships, where she finished T40.
In 2012, her 75.28 scoring average led the Hoosiers. Tong earned wins at the IU Fall Kickoff, Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown and Indiana Invitational. Had two other top-10 finishes to go along with the three wins. Was named to the Academic All-BIG Ten list and named the Women's Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar.
In 2013, earned victories at the Indiana Invitational and Ladies Golf Club of Toronto Club Championship. She finished T49 at the most recent BIG Ten Conference Championships.
Says her most memorable golf experiences are when she walked off of the 18th green after the last round of the Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown having no idea that her team had won the whole tournament. Also had a hole-in-one from 170 yards out and screamed and jump-hugged her assistant coach when they saw it go in. When she's not playing golf, Elizabeth likes to play the piano, guitar and is learning to play the violin. She likes to sing, write songs, watch movies and TV shows and hang out with her friends. She has earned three 4.0 GPA semesters at Indiana through her three years there. Something unique about Elizabeth is sometimes her friends call her ET, Liz or Lizzy and she started the Twitter account @IUParkingProbs for a digital marketing class in 2013 and still runs the account today.
