Needed to make the cut in his last event of the 2011 season, the UBS Hong Kong Open, to have any chance of keeping his card, and duly did so, coming tied 39th to scrape in in 117th place in The Race to Dubai. Was a less nervy finish in 2012, when he took 111th place, but in 2013 he will hope to rediscover the form of 2010, when he came 40th, and 2009, when he was 53rd in his first full season. Graduated from the Challenge Tour in 2008, the year he won his maiden title, at the Qingdao Golf Open. In 2002 he left his family home to take up a university scholarship studying Sports Management for three years at the University of South Alabama. Turned professional after graduating and played for two and a half years on the NGA Hooters Tour, a developmental tour in America, winning twice. His performances on the other side of the Atlantic led to him receiving invitations to play on the 2007 Challenge Tour, and on only his second appearance he finished in a tie for third at the Wales Challenge. Subsequently recorded a further three top ten finishes en route to 49th place in the end of season Rankings, and went on to represent Ireland in the 2007 Mission Hills World Cup.
