Garrett Rank

Garrett Rank started playing golf at the age of 10 after following his older brother to the golf course. Once Rank started to enjoy the sport he practiced from 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Rank played both collegiate golf and hockey at University of Waterloo in Ontario. During his time at Waterloo, Rank was diagnosed with testicular cancer. He continued to play golf and hockey while undergoing cancer treatment. In 2011, Rank was declared cancer free and he finished out his career at Waterloo by clinching a win at the Canadian University College Championship and the 2012 Totze Trophy- Waterloo's Male Athlete of the Year.
2010 Notes: Rank made it to the Round of 16 in the 2010 U.S. Amateur Public Links.
2011 Notes: Round of 64 at the U.S. Amateur Public Links. Missed the cut at the U.S. Amateur.
2012 Notes: Rank finished as runner-up in the 2012 Mid-Amateur behind Nathan Smith. Smith prevailed, 1 up.
2013 Notes: Runner-up at the Ontario Amateur Championship. Finished top-20th in three other events played: Sahalee Player's Championship, Northeast Amateur Invitational, and the Monroe Invitational Championship.
2014 Notes: Rank won the 2014 Canadian Mid-Amateur Championship.
2015 Notes: Rank became a consecutive champion at the Canadian Mid-Amateur Championship, winning by seven strokes.
2016 Notes: Competed in 11 different events. Rank decided to take off from golf to become a hockey official, eventually leading to a career in the NHL. Represented Canada at the World Amateur Team Championships in Mexico. Advanced to the semifinals of the U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship with partner Patrick Christovich.
2017 Notes: Rank had 10 career starts, while continuing to put his hockey officiating career before his amateur golf career. He and partner Patrick Christovich advanced to the semifinals of the U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship for the second consecutive year.
2018 Notes: Finished T-1st with a score of -2 at the 36 hole sectional qualifier at Settindown Creek Course at Georgia Ansley Golf Club.
Other interests include working as a hockey referee, hanging out with friends, working out, and relaxing at his cottage.
