Finished runner-up in the 2010 season opening event at the Mauritius Commercial Bank Open and third in the Van Lanschot Senior Open to end the campaign in 15th place on the Order of Merit. His best season to date on the Senior Tour was in 2008 when he won back-to-back events, capturing the De Vere Collection PGA Seniors Championship, when he defeated namesake Gordon Brand Jr. on the sixth extra hole, and the Travis Perkins plc Senior Masters. Those victories, along with six other top ten finishes, helped him finish second in the Order of Merit behind Ian Woosnam. A consistent figure on the leaderboards since turning 50 in August 2005, the former Ryder Cup player made his winning breakthrough the following year when he held off an illustrious list of challengers which included two time Open champion Greg Norman to win the OKI Castellón Open de España Senior. He said it was a huge confidence boost and duly responded by winning two events later at the season-ending Arcapita Seniors Tour Championship, closing with a six under par 66 before defeating Adan Sowa in a play-off. A successful and solid performer on The European Tour, he maintained his playing privileges from 1977 to 1994 with victory in the 1989 Volvo Belgian Open. But perhaps his career highlight came when he was runner-up in The 1986 Open Championship at Turnberry, five strokes behind Greg Norman. That result helped him finish a career best fifth on The European Tour Order of Merit. Is a former referee on the Senior Tour.
Played in 8 European Seniors Tour events in 2005, best finish T3rd in Bendinat London Seniors Masters. Won â?¬81,804 which played him 26th on the order of merit.
Played in 17 European Seniors Tour events in 2006, won the OKI Castellon Open de Espana Senior & Arcapita Seniors Tour Championship. Won â?¬196,002 which played him 4th on the order of merit.
Played in 19 European Seniors Tour events in 2007, won the DGM Barbados Open. Won â?¬139,482 which placed him 10th on the order of merit.
Played in 17 European Seniors Tour events in 2008, won the DeVere Collection PGA Seniors Championship & Travis Perkins Pic Senior Masters. Won â?¬257,744 which placed him 2nd on the order of merit. Had nine top-ten finishes, including a T2nd in the Lake Garda Italian Seniors Open & Jersey Seniors Open.
Played in 16 European Seniors Tour events in 2009, best finish T6th in Irish Seniors Open . Won â?¬73,043 which placed him 21st on the order of merit.
Played in 19 European Seniors Tour events in 2010, best finish 2nd Mauritius Commercial Bank Open. Won â?¬122,758 which placed him 15th on the order of merit.
