Shot a 4-under-par 68 at the Radrick Farms sectional to qualify for the 2012 U.S. Senior Open.

Played in 8 U.S. Amateurs. Won the 2002 USGA Senior Amateur, defeating Mark Bemowski, 4 and 3. Runner-up at the 2004 USGA Senior Amateur, losing to Mark Bemowski, 4 and 3. Advanced to third round of 2002 U.S. Mid-Amateur. Member of 1997 Michigan squad at USGA State Team Championship. Won the 1982 and 1997 Michigan Stroke Play. Won the 1983 and 1994 Michigan Mid-Amateur. Won the 1984, 1985, 1986 and 1996 Michigan Tournament of Champions. Won the 1994 Horton Smith. Won the 1982, 1990, 1995, 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004 Genesee County All-Star. Won the 1997, 1998, 2001 and 2005 Flint City Amateur. Runner-up at the 2004 USGA Senior Amateur. Runner-up at the 1986 Michigan State Amateur. Runner-up at the 1987 and 1993 Michigan Mid-Amateur. Runner-up at the 1987, 1994, 2000 and 2002 Michigan Stroke Play. Runner-up at the 1988 Michigan Tournament of Champions. Was an alternate for the 2002 USGA Senior Amateur. Learned he had qualified while competing in the 2002 U.S. Mid-Amateur, where he advanced to the third round of match play. After his elimination, he flew (through weather delays) to Jacksonville and arrived at Timuquana CC just before stroke play. Seven-time club champion at Flint Golf Club and served as club president in 2001; also won 10 club championships at Spring Meadows GC; won 15 state titles in Michigan; medalist at 1990 Michigan Amateur (shooting course record 66 at Meadowbrook GC); six-time quarterfinalist in Michigan State Amateur. Made finals of 2005 Remax World Long Drive Championship. Lists winning the 2002 USGA Senior Amateur as a highlight. Lowest competitive round was 63 shot in 2001 at Flint Golf Club. In 2004 was elected to Greater Flint Area Sports Hall of Fame. In 2003 was elected to the Michigan Golf Hall of Fame. 2002, 2003, 2004 and 2005 Golf Association of Michigan Senior Player of the Year. 2002 Golf Digest's Senior Player of the Year. 1994 Boyne/Michigan Player of the Year. 1994 and 2004 Golf Association of Michigan Player of the Year. 19-time member of Golf Association of Michigan Honor Roll (top 10 player). A retired executive from General Motors. When he's not golfing, he likes to travel with his wife and spend time with his family. He advanced to match play at the 2012 Michigan Amateur at Oakland Hills CC. Will be participating in the 2012 U.S. Senior Amateur at Mountain Ridge Country Club in West Caldwell, N.J., which is his last qualifying exemption for that tournament.
