Ian Stanley

Played on the European tour in the 70s and the Australian tour, where he won 24 times between 1975 and 1992.
Stanley won his maiden European Seniors Tour victory when he closed with a four under par 68 to win the 2000 Coca-Cola Kaiser Karl European at Haus Kambach in Germany but in 2001 he really moved up a gear, winning the Tour's two 72-hole events. Ian's first win of the season came at the prestigious De Vere
PGA Seniors Championship at Carden Park and he then produced the performance of his life, overcoming Jack Nicklaus, among others, and then defeating New Zealand's Bob Charles on the first hole of a sudden-death play-off to win the Senior British Open, presented by MasterCard, at Royal Co. Down. The popular Australian was a regular visitor to the European Tour in the 1970s, claiming one Tour titled when he tied for first place with Christy O'Connor at the 1975 Martini International. He also won 24 events on his home Australasian Tour between 1975 and 1992. Nowadays, he spends the off-season working as a TV commentator on Fox TV.
