Jamie Mcleary

Fully exempt into the 2014 Open Championship by shooting 63-72 to finish 2nd in Final Qualifying at Gailes Links

McLeary was born in Peterhead, Scotland. In 2004 he represented Scotland at the Eisenhower Trophy and represented Great Britain and Ireland at the St Andrews Trophy. His team won the St Andrews Trophy and McLeary won the individual event as well. He played college golf at Odessa College and Baylor University in the United States.
McLeary reached the final stages of qualifying for the Asian Tour in both 2005 and 2006, but failed to win full playing privileges and played some events with only a partial category. He has played on the European Challenge Tour since 2006, having failed to win a place on the European Tour in his several visits to qualifying school. His best finish on the end of season Challenge Tour Rankings came in 2009 when he placed 24th, missing out on the top 20 needed to achieve full European Tour status. In August 2009 he picked up his first professional win at the Scottish Hydro Challenge.
Claimed the 15th and last card from the Challenge Tour Rankings after a thrilling final round at the Dubai Festival City Challenge Tour Grand Final hosted by Al Badia Golf Club. Finished in a T-2nd on a tense final day in the desert, and was uncertain as to whether he had done enough, only to have his place on the 2014 Race to Dubai confirmed after a nervous five minutes in the recording area. Played seven seasons on the Challenge Tour, picking up his only victory on home soil at the Scottish Hydro Challenge in 2009. Away from the course he enjoys spending time with his young family, as well as following his favourite football team, Arsenal. Is also a self-confessed petrol head, claiming that if he had the money he would spend more on cars than Ian Poulter.
In 2014 only made three cuts in 19 starts on the European Tour, best finish T-20th NH Collection Open.
