Jim Ragland

Started playing the game of golf around the age of 12 years old and credits his mom and dad for encouraging him to go after his dreams from a young age. Says Jimmy Hodges and Davis Love Jr. were instrumental in developing his game in the early 1980s. Says he has many memorable golf experiences but some of them included playing in the U.S. Amateur in Canterbury and winning the 1989 Florida Open after shooting 67 on the final day. Also mentioned that his son Toby played on the University of Florida's golf team from 2005-09 and was coached by Buddy Alexander, who was his coach at GSU. Is married to his wife, Lindsey, and enjoys spending as much time with her and his granddaughter as possible.
Currently is a full-time golf instructor as an independent contractor at the University of North Florida GolfPlex. The GolfPlex is an on-campus driving range with four holes on it, ideal for developing new players.
When he was playing competitively, Jim played in the 1979 and '80 U.S. Amateurs and won the 1989 Florida Open. He doesn't play many competitive tournaments anymore, his last being in 2012 at the Colorado Senior Open where he shot 78-69-74, good for a T-14th finish. Says his game has taken shape recently after becoming a certified Level Golf BioSwing Dynamics Instructor under the guidance of Mike Adams and EA Tischler.
