Ken Lacy

Shot 71 to finish as first alternate at the Hot Springs, Va., sectional but later made the field as an alternate. Is playing in his first USGA championship. Won the West Virginia State Open in 1983 and 1986. Played numerous mini-tour events in the 1980s but has been inactive in competitive golf until recently. Is the club professional and superintendent at Logan Country Club, where he's worked for six years. Taught PGA Tour professional J.B. Holmes and his caddie, Brandon Parsons. Conducts the Lil Lacys Junior Golf clinic, a free clinic for children ages 5 to 17 that attracts 100 kids each summer. Worked in golf course construction and design in the 1990s, helping build five golf courses â?? in Florida, Kentucky, New Mexico and the Caribbean.
