Kent Jones

Since getting through the PGA Tour Q-School in 1997 has been successful at Q-school in 1998, 2001, '07 & '08. Bounced around between the PGA, Korn Ferry, and Canadian tours from 1998 to 2017. He traveled with his wife and dog in a recreational vehicle for three years while playing the Canadian Tour (1993-94) and the Hooters Tour (1995). He finally sold the vehicle after putting more than 200,000 miles on it.
He earned his card for 1999 by finishing T-35th at the 1998 Qualifying Tournament.
He played full-time on the PGA Tour in 1998, '99, 2001-'09. He played a total of 362 events making 183 cuts. He was in the top ten, 11 times. His best finish was T-5th in the 2010 Reno-Tahoe Open. In all his years on the PGA Tour was never in the top-100 of the money or FedEx Cup list. His best year was 2006, when he finished 101st. That year he had two top-tens, T-6th at the 84 Lumber Classic and T-7th at the John Deere. In his 362 events, he earned $5,386,476.
He played full-time on the Korn Ferry Tour in 1996, '97, 2000 & 2010-2013. He played in 143 events, winning twice in 2000 the Shreveport Open and Greensboro Open. That year, he had his best year on the Korn Ferry Tour, finishing 7th on the money list. In his career, he won $412,668.
2017 Notes: On turning 50 decided to play senior golf and was able to make five starts, four of them through open qualifying. He was T-11th at the Pacific Links Bear Mountain Championship in September, where he had qualified with a 64. He was T-9th finish at the American Family Insurance Championship in June, which earned him a berth in the 3M Championship as a top-10 finisher not previously exempt. Earned fully-exempt status for 2018 by finishing 3rd at the PGA TOUR Champions National Qualifying Tournament in Scottsdale.
2018 Notes: Played in 21 PGA Tour Champions events. He had five top-ten finishes. His best finish was T-3rd in the Dominion Energy Charity, he was 2 shots back of winner Woody Austin. He ended his year with a T-8th at the Charles Schwab Cup Championship, he was one of two rookies to play in that event. He finished 26th in the Charles Schwab Cup.
2019 Notes: Played in 23 PGA Tour Champions events with five top-ten finishes. He was 32nd on the Schwab ranking. He was T-2nd at the Mitsubishi Electric Classic, 2 shots back of winner Scott McCarron. Also shot a final round 66 to finish T-5th at the Principal Charity Classic. He was T-4th at the Bridgestone Senior Players, four shots back of winner Retief Goosen. He was T-9th at the Pure Insurance Championship, and his final event for the year was 33rd at the Charles Schwab Cup Championship.
2020 & 2021 Notes: Played in 33 PGA Tour Champions events with two top-ten finishes. He was 55th on the Schwab ranking. He was T-8th at the Pure Insurance Championship, five shots back of the Furyk/Kelly playoff. He was T-7th at the TimberTech Championship, four shots back of winner Darren Clarke. In events played in 2021, his best finish was T-13th at the 2021 Pure Insurance Championship. He was back at PGA Tour Champions Qualifying Tournament and finished T-47th.
2022 Notes: Played in 12 PGA Tour Championship events with one top-ten finish. He was 74th in the Schwab rankings and 74th on the money list earning $150,964. He was T-8th at the Rapiscan System Classic, shooting 67 in the final round. Returned to Qualifying Tournament and was T-7th.
2023 Notes: T-19th at the Invited Celebrity Classic.
