Kris Tschetter

Kris Tschetter was raised in Sioux Falls, S.D. Tschetter won the 1983 American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) Tournament of Champions and was a four-time winner of the South Dakota State Women's Amateur Championship (1983-86).
As a collegiate golfer in the 1980's, Tschetter became a member at the prestigious Shady Oaks Country Club where Ben Hogan was a member. On the range Hogan noticed her practicing and offered to help her with her swing, giving her priceless lessons on golf and life. Tschetter shares a heartwarming account of her 15-year friendship with Ben Hogan in a book called, "Mr. Hogan, The Man I Knew".
In 1984, she qualified for the U.S. Women's Open and the following year was a quarterfinalist at the Trans-National. Tschetter played college golf at Texas Christian University (TCU), where she was a three-time member of the All-Southwest Conference Team. She finished ninth at the 1987 NCAA Championship.
Tschetter played full-time on the LPGA Tour between 1988 and 2006 where she played in 506 events making 316 cuts. She was in the top-ten 50 times and won once at the 1992 Northgate Computer Classic. Tschetter had 10 runner-up finishes including two major championships, the 1996 U.S. Women's Open and the 1997 Kraft Nabisco Championship. Tschetter's best year on tour was in 1995 when she was a runner-up at the Hawaiian Ladies and the Sprint Championship and had 7, top-seven finishes. That year she won $363,202 to finish 12th on the money list. Tschetter won $2,924,434 during her career on the LPGA Tour.
She underwent hip surgery in 2000 and returned in 2001 to record six top-tens and earn the Heather Farr Player Award. She finished T-58 in the 2018 Senior LPGA Championship.
Tschetter founded the Kris Tschetter Celebrity Golf Benefit for Kids in 1991, an event that raises money for children's charities in the Sioux Falls, S.D. area. She credits her husband and coach, Kirk Lucas for influencing her career and getting her where she is today. Lucas has been teaching her since the two met in 1992. They have two daughters: Lainey Elizabeth and Kyra Marie and reside in Warrenton, Va.

Tschetter shot 82-78=160 (+14) to miss the cut in the inaugural U.S. Senior Women's Open.
