Liselotte Neumann

Neumann grew up in Finspang, Sweden, a small town two hours southwest of Stockholm. Her father, Rune, coached golf in the summer and bandy (a field hockey/soccer combo on ice) in the winter. Neumann honed an impressive short game at the local nine-hole course, hitting flop shots at the spaces between the windows of the barn-like clubhouse with boys her age.
Neumann established a notable amateur career in Europe. She was the Swedish Amateur champion in 1982-83 and the Swedish Match Play champion in 1983. She represented Sweden in the European Team Championship in 1984 and the World Team Championship in 1982 and 1984. She turned professional in 1985. She won three times on the Ladies European Tour, the IBM European Open, and Hoganas O Tat. In 1986, whe won the BMW German Open.
At the age of 21 in 1987, Neumann moved to the United States. She qualified for the LPGA Tour by finishing T-4th at the Qualifying Tournament.
She played full-time between 1988 and 2010, competing in 468 events and making 357 cuts. She was in the top-10 82 times and won 13 times. Right off the bat in her first year, she won the U.S. Women's Open by three strokes over Patty Sheehan. It would be not only her first win on the LPGA Tour but also her first top-10 finish. She would end the year with $188,729 of earnings, placing her 12th on the money list, but more importantly was declared Rookie of the Year. It would take her three years before she won again at the 1991 Mazda Japan Classic. Her best year on the LPGA Tour money list was 1994 when she won three times (Minnesota LPGA Classic, Weetabix Women's Open & Heartland Classic), was runner-up once and third three times, winning $505,701 and placing third on the money list. Her best financial year was in 1998 when she won $665,633 to place fifth on the money list. She won twice (Standard Register Ping & Chick-fil-A Charity) but was runner-up twice and was in the top-six eight times.
Neumann played in the first six Solheim Cups (1990, '92, '94, '96, '98 & 2000) and won eight and a half points with a record of 6-10-5. In 2009, she joined Joanne Morley as assistant captains to Alison Nicholas for the European Solheim Cup Team which lost to Team USA. But in 2013, Neumann captained the team to victory, the first time Europe had won the cup on foreign soil. Neumann won the Women's World Cup of Golf for Sweden in 2006 with Annika Sorenstam. The 1988 U.S. Women's Open remains her only LPGA major, but she won the Women's British Open in 1994, when it was recognized as a major championship by the Ladies European Tour, but not by the LPGA Tour. On the Ladies European Tour, she won 11 times, the last coming in the 1995 Trygg Hansa Ladies Open. A bad back forced Neumann to slow down from competitive golf, playing her last LPGA event at the 2010 CVS/Pharmacy LPGA Challenge. Neumann loves all sports and you can find her on a California beach or skiing down some slope. In 2009 she became an American citizen and lives full time in Rancho Mirage, Calif.
Neumann plays on the Legends Tour and has won three times, the 2014 Walgreens Charity Classic, 2015 Walgreens Charity Championship and the 2017 Walgreens Charity Championship. She has two top-10 finishes in the Senior LPGA Championship, 6th in 2017 and T-7th in 2018. She played in the 2018 Suquamish Clearwater Legends Cup in Washington and finished T-4th.

Liselotte shot 71-76-76-72=295 (+3) to finish T-6th in the first U.S. Senior Women's Open.
