Mamiko Higa

At age 11, she went to a golf driving range in Nago City with her father and fell in love with the game. In 2011 and 2012, she won the Japan Women's Amateur Golf Championships. At the 2012 studio Alice Women's Open, as an amateur finished 3rd, four back of the winner. Shortly after that turned pro.
Higa has finished inside the top five of the JLPGA money list the last two seasons. She has four wins on the JLPGA circuit.
Higa's husband, Ikioi Shota, is a world-class sumo wrestler. The two met in 2015 when Higa watched Shota compete. Shota bought her a $100,000 engagement ring and the couple was married in October 2018.
