Marcel Siem

Siem turned professional in 2000 and joined the European Tour in 2002. His first win on the European Tour came at the 2004 Dunhill Championship. Siem then had to wait eight years before picking up his second win in 2012 at the Alstom Open de France.
After steady seasons in 2010 and 2011, he started 2012 in fine form, finishing fourth in the Omega Dubai Desert Classic, tied for second in the Avantha Masters, and tied for seventh in the BMW PGA Championship before landing the biggest title of his career in the Alstom Open de France. Carded a final-round 67 at Le Golf National in Paris to hold off Francesco Molinari and win for the second time on The European Tour, following his 2004 victory in the Dunhill Championship. Added a third title in April 2013 with a wire-to-wire victory in the Trophee Hassan II. He won the World Cup for Germany in Barbados in 2006 when he teamed up with Bernhard Langer but lost his card the following season. He underlined his support of the Challenge Tour at the start of 2007 when he lent his name to the POSTBANK Challenge presented by Marcel Siem. That support reflected the rapid progress he made from the Approved Third Level EPD Tour through the Challenge Tour before a final step up to The European Tour and his first tournament win in South Africa in 2004, a journey that took three years. He owned his first club as a 2-year-old when he would play with a little putter but really started playing at the age of 6. His parents ran a golf club restaurant at Burge Overbach in Cologne. His father, Heinz, was a professional handball player before getting injured at age 23.
2014 Notes: Sealed the biggest win of his career in dramatic style at the BMW Masters, where he chipped in from the edge of the green to overcome Alexander Levy and Ross Fisher on the first hole of a sudden-death playoff. That success propelled him from 53rd to fourth in The Race to Dubai, eventually settling for a career-high finish of seventh. For the year had three top-tens, the others were T-7th at the BMW PGA Championship and T-8th at the Turkish Airlines Open.
2015 Notes: Played in 19 European Tour events making 10 cuts with one top-ten finish. Was 66th in the Race to Dubai, with earnings of euro524,877. After finishing T-48th in the PGA Championship, he played in the Korn Ferry playoffs, but he didn't make it to the weekend in any four of his starts. He ended his year with a T-60th finish at the BMW Masters.
