Marta Silva

Started playing golf around age 9 and credits her parents for having the most influence on her career. Was a cast member of the Golf Channel's show "School of Golf" while training at the Hank Haney Academy.
Committed to the University of Georgia to play her college golf. Was the 2011 National Player of the Year voted by the National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) and Golfweek. Also presented with the Honda/Broderick Awards and was the '11 SEC Golfer of the Year. In 2009, Silva was the SEC Freshman of the Year. Became just the second four-time NGCA All-American in program history (first-team in 2010 and 2011 and honorable mention in 2009 and 2012). Was a four-time Golfweek All-American (first-team in 2011, second-team in 2010 and 2012 and third-team in 2009) and was tabbed First-Team All-SEC four times. Became just the third UGA golfer and the seventh SEC golfer to do so. In 11 post-season events (SEC's, NCAA Regionals and NCAA Championships), had five top-5 finishes and two more top-10s. When Silva graduated, she owned three of the top-10 single-season averages in school history (No. 1 in 2010-11, No. 3 in 2009-10 and No. 8 in 2011-12) and 11 of the 39 best relation-to-par tournament scores. Was the recipient of the Georgia Women's Golf Scholarship for 2009-10, the Mary B. Dinos Scholarship for 2010-11 and the Vickie & Leon Farmer Scholarship for 2011-12. Was a member of the Spanish National Team from 2005-2012.
Turned professional in October 2012 and competed as a rookie on the Symetra Tour and Ladies European Tour in 2013. In her rookie year on the Ladies European Tour, Marta played in seven events and posted a season-best T7 at the Open de Espana in Madrid. Also competed as a rookie on both the Symetra Tour, making nine starts and recorded at season-best T6 finish at the Four Winds Invitational. At the LPGA Final Qualifying tournament, finished T44 to earn Priority List Category 17 for the 2014 LPGA Tour season.
Has played one LPGA Tour event in 2014, missing the cut at the Airbus LPGA Classic.
When she's not playing golf, Marta likes to play other sports and stay active by dancing and singing. She qualified for the Tour on her second attempt. Graduated from Georgia in 2012 with a degree in Communications.
