Matt Naumec

Naumec remembers playing on a course at the tender age of 4. His father Michael, worked for Callaway Golf in Chicopee, Ma for 15 years. His grandfather, John "Pepe" Sauve, and uncle, Michael Sauve, were also outstanding golfers and Pepe taught him how to play golf.
Naumec's playing resume has included victories at the 2015 New England Amateur Championship, 2016 Francis Ouimet Memorial, 2014 Massachusetts Junior and 2013 New England Prep School individual championship. He has also competed at the 2014 U.S. Amateur not making it out of stroke play and played in the 2017 Four-Ball championships with partner Billy Walthouse and they lost in the round of 32. Also reached the semifinals of the Massachusetts Amateur.
Naumec recently graduated from Boston College, where he finished his playing career as captain and with All-Northeast region honors for the third straight year. He turned pro in May, beginning his career with a pair of starts on the Mackenzie Tour/PGA Canada Tour.
After Naumec qualified he told a Massachusetts writer, "I've never been to a U.S. Open, I've never played Pebble Beach. I feel great about my game, and to think I might be hitting balls on the range or playing next to guys like Phil (Mickelson), Tiger (Woods), Rory (McIlroy), DJ (Dustin Johnson) or (Brooks) Koepka, that's just crazy."
The U.S. Open will be his 3rd professional start.
