Mel Reid

Her real name is Melissa. She began playing golf at age 11 because she could no longer play soccer with the boys. She enjoys football (soccer), snowboarding, tennis, and seeing friends when she is not playing golf.
During her amateur career, she advanced to match play at the 2006 U.S. Women's Amateur. Member of Great Britain and Ireland team in the 2006 Curtis Cup. Member of the 2005 European PING Junior Solheim Cup Team. Won the 2004 and 2005 English Girls' Championship. Won the 2006 and 2007 Helen Holm Trophy, as well as the 2007 St. Rule Trophy and the 2007 British Amateur Stroke Play Championship. She was Britain's leading amateur in 2007 and won the Smyth Salver as the leading amateur at the 2007 Ricoh Women's British Open at the Old Course at St. Andrews, Scotland, where she finished in a tie for 16th.
In 2008 Melissa's first year on LET became the Ryder Cup Wales Rookie of the Year in association with the Bill Johnson Trophy. She finished 2nd three times in 2008, at the ABN AMRO Ladies Open in the Netherlands, the Oxfordshire Ladies English Open, and the Nykredit Masters in Denmark.
In 2009, recorded 8 top-ten finishes. She posted a season-best 2nd at the Deutsche Bank Ladies Swiss Open and T-3rd at both the Women's Australian Open and HypoVereinsbank Ladies German Open. She finished 7th on the Henderson Money List with the season's earnings of 168,749.67 Pounds from 14 events played.
2010 Notes: Broke through with her first victory as a professional at the Turkish Airlines Ladies Open at National Golf Club in Belek, Antalya; Posted 10 additional top-10 finishes, the most on tour all year, including 2nd at the UniCredit Ladies German Open, tied for 2nd at the S4C Wales Championship, 3rd at the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters, tied for 3rd at the UNIQA Ladies Golf Open, 4th at the AIB Ladies Irish Open, tied for 6th at the Lalla Meryem Cup, tied for 7th at the Tenerife Ladies Open, tied for 8th at the Allianz Ladies Slovak Open, tied for 9th at the Korean Ladies Masters, tied for 10th at the Open de France Feminine. Finished 3rd on the Money List with euros235,871.59 in earnings.
2010 Notes: Recorded two wins in the Deloitte Dutch Ladies Open and the Open de Espana Femenino, plus six top-ten finishes, including tied second at the ISPS HANDA Women's Australian Open. She tied for third three times: at the Ladies Irish Open, UNIQA Ladies Golf Open, and Suzhou Taihu Ladies Open and, finally, tied for fourth at the New Zealand Women's Open and Turkish Airlines Ladies Open. She was a first-time member of the European Solheim Cup team and has earned her place on the team by leading the Ladies European Tour's Solheim Cup points list.
2012 Notes: Had an emotional victory at the Raiffeisenbank Prague Golf Masters on the LET. Four weeks removed after her mother Joy dying in a car accident in Germany, Melissa was able in her first tournament back from the tragedy to hold on for a victory, making a 6-footer on her final hole to win by one. She finished the year 28th in earnings.
2013 Notes: She played in 12 LET events with two top-10 finishes and a best finish of T-7 at the Delloite Ladies Open. She ranked 67th in earnings.
2014 Notes: Reid played in 14 LET events and finished 2nd at the Allianz Ladies Slovak Open. She ranked 32nd in earnings.
2015 Notes: Reid played in 14 LET tournaments and had nine top-15 finishes. She won the Turkish Airlines Ladies Open from start to finish beating Gwladys Nocera by four and finished the season second in the Order of Merit. She was named to the European Solheim Cup team for the second team and was 3-0-1 in the matches, including a 2-and-1 win over Brittany Lang in singles. It was her first return to Germany since her mother died in the country three years earlier.
2016 Notes: Played in 9 LET tournaments and had 4 top-ten finishes. Mel's best finish was T-3rd Fatima Bint Mubarak Ladies Open. Also was T-5th at the Lacoste Ladies French Open. Finished 20th on the order of merit, winning 68,848 pounds. At the end of the year went to America and finished T-8th at the LPGA Qualifying Tournament, giving her full status for the LPGA in 2017.
2017 Notes: Played in 19 LPGA events making 11 cuts. Her best finish was T-13th at the Pure Silk Bahamas Classic, she finished 94th on the money list. On the LET, she played in 6 events winning the Oates Victorian Open and beating Sandra Gal in a playoff. She was 8th on the order of merit, winning 91,269 pounds. She was named to the European Solheim Cup team and was 0-3-1 in the matches.
2018 Notes: Played in 20 LPGA Tour events making 7 cuts with one top-ten finish. Was 109th on the money list with earnings of $79,363. Placed 108th on the CME points list. She started her year with 2 LET events, T-17th in defense of her Oates Victorian win and T-46th at the ActewAGL Canberra Classic. Best LPGA finish, T-9th at the Marathon Classic, by shooting 65-68 over the weekend.
2019 Notes: Played in 21 LPGA tour events making 12 cuts with one top-ten finish. She was 61st on the money list with $323,450 in earnings and finished 75th on the CME points list. Best LPGA finish, T-3rd at the KPMG Women's PGA Championship, shot a final round 66 to finish three back of winner Hannah Green. Served as a Vice-Captain to Catriona Matthew on the European Solheim Cup team.
2020 Notes: Played in 16 LPGA Events making 13 cuts with three top-ten finishes. She was 23rd on the money list with $441,415 in earnings. She was 12th on the CME points list. Had a magical month of golf first with a T-7th finish at the ANA Inspiration and then the next week finishing T-5th at the Cambia Portland Classic just two shots from the Georgia Hall/Ashleigh Buhal playoff. In Reid's next event, she won the ShopRite Classic. Shot four rounds in the 60s and with a 66-67 over the weekend, finished 19 under par and two shots ahead of Jennifer Kupcho. At the age of 33 years and 16, Kris Tamulis became the oldest first-time winner on the LPGA Tour, winning the 2014 Yokohama Tire Classic.
2021 Notes: Played in 19 LPGA Tour events making 13 cuts with two top-ten finishes. She was 69th on the CME Points list and 72nd on the money list with earnings of $242,566. Was T-10th at the HUGEL-AIR PREMIA L.A. Open, then T-9th at the Bank of Hope LPGA Match-Play, losing to Minjee Lee 5 & 4 in the round of 16. She was T-55th at the Toyko Olympics as a member of Great Britain's women's golf team. She was a captain's pick for the European Solheim Cup team by Catriona Matthew and was 2-1-1 in the matches. She lost to Yealimi Noh in the singles 1 up. She ended her season finishing T-22nd at the Pelican Womens Championship.
