In the summer prior to her freshman season, Tavatanakit competed in three of the LPGA's five majors (ANA Inspiration, U.S. Women's Open, Evian Championship). She reached the Round of 16 at the 2017 U.S. Girls' Junior Championship, won all three of her team and individual matches at the 2017 Wyndham Cup, and finished third at the 2017 Rolex Girls Junior Championship.
She made an impact as a member of the UCLA women's golf team, capturing four individual wins and helping to lead the team to a Pac-12 conference title. She defeated her junior teammate, Lilia Vu, in a playoff to take home an individual Pac-12 title. Tavatanakit is the sixth Bruin in program history to earn an individual conference title. She was named to the Pac-12 All-Conference First Team. She also captured a win at the NCAA San Francisco Regional to help the Bruins advance to the NCAA Championships.
