Raphael Jacquelin

Took up tennis, then switched to golf and enjoyed a successful amateur career before turning professional in 1995. Dreamed of being a professional footballer until a knee injury at age 13 forced him to turn his attention to other pursuits.
Graduated from the Challenge Tour in 1997 when he finished fourth in the Rankings after winning twice during the season.
His elusive maiden European Tour success arrived in Spain in October 2005 when he won the Open de Madrid on his 238th European Tour start.
Also won the 2007 BMW Asian Open in Shanghai ? a wire-to-wire victory ? finally landing the main prize having previously won lesser prizes at BMW events including a stereo system for a low round and a BMW Z8 after a hole in one.
Claimed the fourth title of his career in dramatic circumstances in the 2013 Open de España, finally edging out Germany?s Max Kieffer on the ninth hole of a sudden-death play-off which also featured Felipe Aguilar for three holes. It equalled the European Tour record for the longest play-off, set at the 1989 Dutch Open, and the victory came two years after Jacquelin?s previous triumph, in the 2011 Sicilian Open.
2014 Notes: In 25 starts made the cut in 15 of them, had three top-tens; T-5th at the Volvo Golf Champions, T-8th at the Championship at Laguna National and T-9th at the Hong Kong Open. He went on to finish 78th in the Race to Dubai.
In 2015 his best finish was his first start of the year, T-13th at the South African Open Championship. That is until the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open where if finished T-2nd, just one shot back of winner Rickie Fowler. With the strong finish Jacquelin got one of the last slots into the Open.
