Started golfing when he was about 14. He grew up playing municipal courses around the Seattle area. It wasn't until he got to the University of Washington that he got access to nicer courses. Has has worked with Joe Thiel since he was 16. Not only has Thiel been important with his swing but also as a father figure. While in college at the age of 18, Lee got married to Christine who he had known since he was 10. A year later, their daughter was born.
Lee turned professional after graduating from the University of Washington in 2010 and missed out by one shot on obtaining a card for the PGA Tour at that winter's qualifying school. He bogeyed two out of his last four holes. The result did entitle him to play on the Nationwide Tour in 2011, where he finished 37th on the money list thanks largely to a runner-up finish at the Mexico Open.
2011 Web.Com Summary: Tournaments entered - 25; in money - 14; top-10 finishes - 7; scoring average 70.55 (rank 71st); money $143,243 (ranked 37th); best finish, 2nd Mexico Open.
Lee returned to Q School that winter and was successful in earning a PGA Tour card for the first time, going 5-under-par for his final five holes (finished birdie-birdie) to qualify with a shot to spare.
2012 Notes: Playing for the first time on the PGA Tour, he struggled in his first 10 starts, only making two cuts but did finish T-15th at the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. Didn't make the FedEx Cup playoffs, finishing 149th in the point race. In the fall series, finished T-6th in the Justin Timberlake but he finished 138th on the money list with earnings of $547,733. Finished T-4th at Q-School, which earned him back his card for 2013.
2013 Notes: Made 17 of 24 cuts on Tour, with two top 10s, finishing 96th in the final FedExCup standings and 89th on the money list. Finished T-73rd at the Deutsche Bank Championship to drop out of the FedEx Cup Playoffs. Was T-9th at the RBC Heritage with rounds of 68-71-69-73 and T-10th at the Humana Challenge with rounds of 66-65-70-66.
2014 Notes: In 27 PGA Tour starts, he had two top-10 finishes in 13 made cuts. Finished the season ranked 138th in FedExCup standings and 131st on the money list. Week included an opening-round 65, equaling the low round of his career. Finished T-4th at the Puerto Rico Open, with all four rounds in the 60s (69-68-68-67). Tried to regain exempt status via the Web.com Tour Finals but failed in attempt. Made two of four cuts, with best finish, a T-14th, coming at the season-ending Web.com Tour Championship. During the summer, he developed a bone cyst in his left thumb. He had surgery in November which forced time off to rest. He started practicing at the end of April.
2015 Notes: Played in 9 events on the Web.Com Tour, making 6 cuts. Best finish T-26th at the New Sentinel Open. Was 185th on the money list with $14,917. Played once on the PGA Tour, missed cut at the U.S. Open.
