Seukhyun Baek

Baek became interested in golf at age 10 after watching Se Ri Pak win a tournament. Baek told his dad he would like to play. Baek also played table tennis while growing up. His idols are K.J. Choi, Boonchu Ruangkit and Prayad Marksaeng. Baek started playing golf in Thailand while his dad was on business trips. At age 11, and after a year of playing, Baek met his coach, Chonrat Sasiwong, and the two still work together today. Baek says he considers him family.
Baek enjoys watching action movies, enjoys his mom's coffee and loves Thai food, like pad kraprao kai with fried eggs and Thai barbecue pork with sticky rice. Baek misses the Korean food his grandmother cooked.
Baek joined the Asian Tour in 2008 and qualified for the Japan Tour in 2015. His victories include the 2010 Singha Arthitaya Championship and 2010 Singha Challenge Park Golf Championship. Baek played in the 2015 CIMB Classic on the PGA Tour, where he earned a 77th-place finish.
Baek was denied his maiden Asian Tour win in 2014 when he was defeated at the CIMB Niaga Indonesian Masters by Anirban Lahiri, who eagled the last hole for a one-shot win. He also missed an opportunity at the 2013 Worldwide Holdings Selangor Masters where he led until the 15th hole in the final round, but settled for third place after dropping three shots in his last three holes. Baek enjoyed one of his best seasons ever by finishing ninth on the Order of Merit after posting eight top-tens.
He earned his Asian Tour card in 2010 at the Qualifying School. He tied for 10th at the King?s Cup in Thailand when he took the second and third-round lead at the Hero Indian Open and was on the brink of victory until fading with a final round 73 to finish in second place, two strokes from the champion, Rikard Karlberg, of Sweden.
