Sungjoon Park

Has also played under the name S.J. Park. He was born in Korea and lived briefly in New Zealand but is now trying to establish himself in America.
In a New Zealand golf tournament, claimed first-place honors among those under the age of 23. As a teenager, achieved the same feat in the category of players under the age of 19.
Park turned pro in 2006 and started playing on the Japanese Challenge Tour. He got his first professional win on that tour at 2010 JGTO Novil Fina and graduated to the Japanese Tour.

2015 Notes: Played in 27 events on the PGA Tour making 13 cuts. Had one top-ten, a 2nd at the Humana Challenge, finishing a shot back of winner Bill Haas in his 5th career PGA Tour start. Finished the year 135th on the FedExCup list. Injured his shoulder during the summer.
2016 Notes: Because of his shoulder problem, was only able to play once and had to withdraw after the first round of the Sanderson Farms Championship.

Played twice on the PGA Tour missing the cut at Puerto Rico and was forced to withdraw from the FedEx St. Jude Classic due to the shoulder injury. Was scheduled to play in the Greenbrier Classic but withdrew before the start of the event. Hasn't played since the Web.Com Tour Championship.
To make it to Shinnecock Hills, Park birdied his 34th and 36th hole of the day to qualify on the number at Lake Merced.
