Suzann Pettersen

Started playing golf at age 6. Credits her English coach Simon Holmes and her family as the individuals who most influenced her career. When she's not playing golf, Suzann enjoys playing most sports, keeping fit and listening to music. The top three things on her bucket list include skydiving, dominating women's golf and having a family. Is an ambassador for Right to Play, a charity whose mission is to use sport and play to educate and empower disadvantaged children. She hosts her own event in Oslo to raise funds.
Was a two-time member of the European Team in the Junior Ryder Cup Matches. Finished as the low individual at the 2000 Women's World Amateur Team Championship and won the British Girls Championship in 1999. Also a five-time Norwegian Amateur Championship winner (1996-2000).
In 2001, won the French Open on the Ladies European Tour and finished second on the Order of Merit. Named LET Rookie of the Year.
In 2002, recorded three top-10 finishes on the LET, including runner-up finishes at the AAMI Women's Australian Open and the Ladies Irish Open. Was a member of the European Solheim Cup Team. T-10th at the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament to earn exempt status for the 2003 LPGA season.
In 2003, best finish was third at the Chick-Fil-A Charity Championship. In her second Solheim Cup appearance, recorded an impressive 4-1-0 record as a member of the victorious European Team.
In 2004, missed five events at the start of the season due to elbow surgery. Recorded four top-10 finishes, including a season-best T-5th at the State Farm Classic.
In 2005, was limited to only nine events because of a back injury. Recorded a season-best T-6th at the John Q. Hammons Hotel Classic. Registered a 2-0-2 record as a captain's pick on the European Solheim Cup Team.
In 2006, best finish was a T-5th at the Florida's Natural Charity Championship.
In 2007, became a Rolex first-time winner at the Michelob ULTRA Open at Kingsmill after overcoming a four-stroke, 54-hole deficit to defeat Jee Young Lee in a three-hole, sudden-death playoff. Won her first LPGA major at the McDonald's LPGA Championship, where she crossed the $1 million mark in season earnings. Won three more events: the Longs Drugs Challenge, where she defeated Lorena Ochoa on the second hole of a sudden-death playoff, and, in consecutive weeks, went wire-to-wire to win both the Hana Bank-Kolon Championship and Honda LPGA Thailand 2007. Made her fourth appearance on the European Solheim Cup team, posting a 1-1-2 record; recorded her second international victory at the SAS Masters on the LET.
In 2008, recorded season-best runner-up finishes at the Wegmans LPGA and at the Kapalua LPGA Classic, where she crossed the $1 million mark in season earnings; recorded eight additional top-10 finishes, including a T-3rd at the Ginn Open, where she crossed the $3 million mark in career earnings; recorded her third and fourth international victories on the LET by winning the DB Ladies Swiss Open and AIB Ladies Irish Open.
In 2009, won the CN� Canadian Women's Open, where she crossed the $1 million mark in season earnings and $5 million mark in career earnings; finished second at the Corona Championship, where she carded a season-low 64 in the second round and went 68 holes without a bogey - a 2009 record, and the Sybase Classic, and T-2nd at the Safeway Classic, where she and Michele Redman lost to M.J. Hur in a two-hole, sudden-death playoff. Posted eight additional top-10 finishes including a T-4th at the J Golf Phoenix LPGA International, a T-5th at the Kraft Nabisco Championship, T-6th at the U.S. Women's Open, LPGA State Farm Classic and Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic, where she recorded her second LPGA Tour hole-in-one, a T-8th at both the Samsung World Championship and LPGA Tour Championship and a T-9th at the MasterCard Classic. Qualified for her fifth consecutive European Solheim Cup Team and posted a 1-4-0 record.
2010 Notes: Recorded 13 top-10s in 20 events played, including six runner-up finishes: second at the season-opening Honda PTT LPGA Thailand, the Kraft Nabisco Championship and the Lorena Ochoa Invitational, T-2nd at the Bell Micro LPGA Classic, the U.S. Women's Open and the CN Canadian Women's Open, T-3rd at the HSBC Women's Champions, T-4th at the ShopRite LPGA Classic, Safeway Classic and the LPGA Hana Bank Championship, T-9th at the Tres Marias Championship. Crossed the $6 million mark in career earnings.
2011 Notes: Won the Sybase Match-Play Championship and the Safeway Classic, giving her eight career victories. Recorded nine additional top-10 finishes including: T-3rd at the Wegmans LPGA Championship and the Avnet LPGA Classic, T-4th at the CME Group Titleholders, T-6th at the Evian Masters, 7th at the Lorena Ochoa Invitational, T-7th at the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia, T-8th at the Honda LPGA Thailand, T-10th at the Kia Classic and the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship. Competed on her sixth European Solheim Cup Team with a 3-1-0 record. Won the AIB Ladies Irish Open on the Ladies European Tour (LET). She also played three LET events, which included a win at the Ladies Irish Open and a T-6th at the Evian Masters
2012 Notes: Played in 24 events, making 23 cuts. She had five top-10 finishes, with back-to-back victories at the LPGA KEB HanaBank Championship and the Sunrise LPGA Taiwan Championship. Earned $1,182,860, good for ninth on the money list. Sixth consecutive season to cross the $1 million in season earnings. On the LET, played four events with a best finish of second at the Ladies Irish Open.
2013 Notes: Earned her second-career major championship at The Evian Championship. She also recorded a victory at the LPGA Lotte Championship and earned two T-3 finishes in majors, at the Kraft Nabisco Championship and the Wegmans LPGA Championship. Made 20 cuts and finished second on the Tour money list with an additional 11 top-10 finishes. Crossed the $2 million mark in season earnings for the first time in her career and the $11 million mark in career earnings. Finished in the top five on Tour in rounds under par (second), rounds in 60s (third), top-10 finishes (second), scoring average (second) and GIR putting average (fourth). Competed on her seventh European Solheim Cup Team and went 2-1-1.
2014 Notes: Hampered by injuries in 2014, she was 11th on the LPGA money list with $1,001,927 and 19th in CME points. It was the first time she was outside the top 10 in earnings since 2006. She made 23 cuts in 24 starts and had 10 top 10s, including a T-2nd at the Women's British Open. She was tied with Anna Nordqvist for the LPGA lead in GIR (77.1 percent). Among the injuries she suffered were a sore shoulder and a bulging disk in her back, which caused her to skip the Kia Classic and the ANA Inspiration. Swing coach David Leadbetter said Pettersen first noticed stiffness in her back after a workout the Monday prior to the Kia Classic. She was stricken with back spasms shortly after that. She was T-2nd at the Women's British Open, one shot back of winner Mo Martin after a final-round 75 in windy conditions at Royal Birkdale. She followed that with a solo third at the Meijer Classic. She finished 6th at the Evian Championship in defense of her 2013 title.
2015 Notes: Played in 23 events after being bothered by a shoulder injury early in the season, making 18 cuts with 10 top-10 finishes as she ranked 14th on the money list. With Butch Harmon as her new swing coach, won the Manulife Classic with a final-round 69 in windy conditions for a 22-under 266 total. It was her 15th career victory. Had two top-10s in majors, a 5th at the RICOH Women's British Open and T-7th at the KPMG Women's PGA Championship. She was T-2nd at the LET's Ladies Scottish Open, two strokes back of Rebecca Artis. Pettersen led by two after 36 holes of the 54-hole event. She was named to the European Solheim Cup team for the 8th time and was 2-2-0 in the matches.
2016 Notes: Played in 21 LPGA events making 19 cuts and 8 top-ten finishes. Started the year with 8 top-25 finishes in her first 11 events, the best a T-6th at the COATES Golf Championship. Finished 3rd at the Cambia Portland Classic, 5 back of Brooke Henderson. Had her best finish of the year at the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia finishing 3 back of winner Shanshan Feng. Was 22nd on the money list with $745,593 and 21st in CME points. Pettersen was 10th at the Rio Olympics as a member of Norway's golf team.
2017 Notes: She got married to Christian Ringvold in her hometown of Oslo, Norway, on Jan. 7, 2017. She was T-3rd at the ANA Inspiration, one shot out of the playoff won by So Yeon Ryu. She was second at the Lalla Meryem Cup on the Ladies European Tour, finishing one back of winner Klara Spilkova. Pettersen, who led by four strokes entering the final round, shot 71 in the final round and missed a 15-foot birdie putt on the last hole that would have forced a playoff. Played at the CME Group Tour Championship finishing T-11th. She won $507,398 for the year ranking 37th and 24th in the Race to CME.
2018 Notes: She decided to take some time off when she found out she was pregnant and due in August. But after the baby was born on August 8th she had no plans to return. At first, she wanted to play right away but then changed her mind. She hasn't played competitively since the 2017 CME Group. She will be a vice-captain for Solheim Cup captain Catriona Matthew and they plan on playing as a team in the LPGA's Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational in July. So the U.S. Women's Open would be her first event back in 1 year, 6 months and 11 days (or 557 days).
