Tyler Raber

Raber?s earliest memory with the sport was a father-son scramble at El Macero Country Club, his home course, with his father, Larry, when he was just five years old.
He went on to become a three-time All-Big West selection, and earned first-team in his junior year at UC Davis. He arrived as a freshman at UC Davis in 2008 and played in 11 of the team?s 13 tournaments with his best finish coming at The Prestige at PGA West, when he finished T-27th. He captured his first victory the next year at the Stockton Sports Commission Pacific Invitational when he tied a school record of 63 in the first round. He broke the school record for score after 36 and 54 holes in the same tournament. He also managed a T-8th at the Michigan Spartan Classic and an 11th at The Prestige at PGA West. His best year, his junior year, he finished T-4th at the Big West Championships and T-3rd at the USC Collegiate Invitational. He redshirted the next year and, in doing so, qualified for the 2012 British Amateur at Royal Troon Golf Club in Ayrshire, Scotland. He was the only American to advance to the round of 16.
He also qualified for the 2011 and 2012 U.S. Amateur. He did not reach match play in either, however.
He came back for his senior year to UC Davis and led the team in scoring with a 72.3 average. He notched three top-10 finishes including a 4th at the U.S. Intercollegiate. The same year, he won the Silicon Valley Amateur.
Since turning pro in 2013, Raber has never made a major tour despite close calls with the PGA Tour Canada?s Mackenzie Tour, so he has spent most of his time on mini-tours. He has stayed primarily on the west coast playing on the Golden State Tour and Gateway Tour. He finished 33rd on the money list on the Gateway Tour in 2015, and is still following the Golden State Tour this year. He took a job as an assistant coach for UC Davis? men?s golf team earlier in the year.
