Walker Lee

The recent high school graduate and incoming Texas A&M freshman qualified for his first U.S. Open by garnering the third and final berth from the Dallas sectional, shooting 10-under 132 at Lakewood Country Club. Lee entered the qualifier as No. 774 in the World Amateur Golf Ranking. He learned the game from his father and uncles but has also received great instruction from Kevin Kirk in The Woodlands. He is a throwback; a shot-maker who works the ball both ways, controls his trajectory and spin and plays fearless golf. Some of Lee?s most notable performances come alongside friends and family. He competed in the 2016 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship with friend and 2015 U.S. Open qualifier Cole Hammer, and played in this year's championship with partner Andrew Minton, but lost in the Round of 32. He won the Texas Father-Son Championship with Randy Lee. As a solo act, Walker Lee won twice on the Texas Legends Junior Tour. The left-handed player will look for continued success, both for himself and his team, at Texas A&M, where he committed as an eighth grader. When Lee is not sinking holes-in-one, of which he has seven (including two in competition), he enjoys hunting and jet-skiing.
