Wendy Ward

Fully exempt into the 2012 U.S. Women's Open by way of her top-70 finish on the 2011 LPGA money list (44th).
Started playing golf at the age of 7. Credits instructor Doug Brooke, Lori Brock, Betty Dodd, her parents and sister, Pam, as the individuals most influencing her career. Married Nate Hair on Sept. 26, 1998.
Had a very successful amateur career. Was the 1992 Texas State Women's champion and the 1994 World Team Amateur champion and medalist. Won the 1994 U.S. Women's Amateur at The Homestead in Hot Springs, Va., where she defeated defending champion Jill McGill, 2 and 1, in the final. Was a member of the 1994 USA Curtis Cup Team. 
Played collegiate golf at Arizona State University, where her team was three-time national champions (1993-95). In 1993, she finished in third place at the NCAA Championship and was runner-up in 1994-95. Also earned First-Team All-America honors from 1993-95. As an amateur, competed at the 1995 Standard Register PING, where she played with Laura Davies and Beth Daniel in the final pairing on Sunday and tied for third place.
In 1995, turned professional in July and competed in four LPGA events; top finish was a tie for 15th at the GHP Heartland Classic; finished third at the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament to earn exempt status for the 1996 LPGA season.
In 1996, her rookie season, best finish was a tie for ninth at both the Cup Noodles Hawaiian Ladies Open and SAFECO Classic.
In 1997, won the Fieldcrest Cannon Classic, where she set LPGA 54- and 72-hole scoring records (both records have since been broken).
In 1998, defeated Dana Dormann on the first hole of a sudden-death playoff to record her second career victory at the Cup Noodles Hawaiian Ladies Open; carded four additional top-10 finishes.
In 1999, best finish came at the Standard Register PING, where she finished fifth.
In 2000, tied for third at both the McDonald's LPGA Championship and Giant Eagle LPGA Classic.
In 2001, after more than three years without a win, established an LPGA record for lowest 54-hole winning score with her victory at the Wendy's Championship for Children at New Albany (has since been broken by Annika Sorenstam); Ward's 21-under 195 total included a career-low 62 in the second round; finished second at the LPGA Champions Classic after a five-hole, sudden-death playoff with Wendy Doolan; crossed the $1 million mark in career earnings at the LPGA Takefuji Classic.
In 2002, best finish was a tie for fourth at the Mobile LPGA Tournament of Champions; posted a 2-1-1 record as one of five â??rookiesâ? on the victorious U.S. Team, including a crucial halve with Annika Sorenstam in the final-day singles matches.
In 2003, finished second on two occasions: at the Asahi Ryokuken International Championship at Mount Vintage; and the Wendy's Championship for Children at Tartan Fields, where she carded a season-low 63 in the final round and lost in a three-hole, sudden-death playoff to Hee-Won Han; qualified for her second U.S. Solheim Cup Team; crossed the $2 million mark in career earnings at the Kellogg-Keebler Classic.
In 2004, posted a season-best, second-place finish at the Franklin American Mortgage Championship; recorded four additional top-10 finishes.
In 2005, won her fourth-career title at the LPGA Takefuji Classic; finished third at the HSBC Women's World Match Play Championship; was a member of the victorious U.S. Solheim Cup Team; crossed the $3 million mark in career earnings at the ShopRite LPGA Classic.
In 2006, best finish was a tie for fifth at the Corona Morelia Championship.
In 2007, best finish was a tie for third at the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic.
In 2008, best finish was a tie for ninth at both the Longs Drugs Challenge and the LPGA State Farm Classic; crossed the $4 million mark in career earnings at the Stanford International Pro-Am.
In 2009, recorded a season-best fourth-place finish at the Corona Championship, where she carded a season-low 7-under-par 66 in the third round; also carded a 7-under-par 64 in the second round of the Michelob ULTRA Open at Kingsmill, where she finished fifth.
In 2010, best finish was a tie for fifth at the CVS/pharmacy LPGA Challenge.
In 2011, finished seventh at the LPGA State Farm Classic.
