Xyra Suyetsugu

Began playing the game of golf around age 9 and credits her father for introducing her to the sport. Says her most memorable golf experience is playing in the 2007 Jennie K. Wilson Tournament in Hawaii. She was playing in the leader's group and it came down to the last hole where she came away victorious. Her family and friends were there to support her and she claims the best part was when they threw her into the pool.
Had a successful prep career which included earning four varsity letters in golf at Roosevelt High School in Honolulu. Won the 2002 Oahu Interscholastic Association Championship and was a four-time member of the OIA All-Star Team. Was named a 2004 Rolex Junior All-American after winning the Marshallia Ranch Junior Tournament.
Played collegiately at the University of Hawaii and finished tied for eighth in the WAC Championships her sophomore season. During her junior year, she finished with a scoring average of 76.4 where her best finish came at the Kent Youel Invitational where she was the runner-up. That same year, Xyra won her first Hawaii State Women's Stroke Play Championship and the Jennie K. Wilson Invitational. Was named a 2008 All-WAC First-Team member.
Represented Hawaii in the 2009 USGA Team State Championships where she finished ninth individually and third as a team. Advanced to stage II of LPGA Q-School in 2012. Most recently carded a 73-77 to tie for 37th at the CPGA Women's Open. Currently plays on the Symetra Tour and has missed the cut in all three events she has played in.
When she's not playing golf, Xyra loves being outdoors. She enjoys surfing, hiking, spending time at the beach and being around friends and family. Says that she has yet to meet anyone who has the same name as her and that it's always a good conversation piece. Her college teammate, Corie Hou, will be her caddy for the U.S. Women's Open. Graduated from Hawaii in 2009 with a degree in Family Resources.
