Rick Gibson

Born and raised in Canada, he attended Brigham Young University, where he was an All American in 1984. He's married to Filipino actress Josephine Garcia, who he met at the 1987 Philippine Open. After early success in Canada after turning pro in 1984, he moved to Asia and won the 1991 Malaysian Open and Order of Merit on the old Asian circuit.
Has traveled the world playing golf and owns victories on Tours in Canada, Japan, Asia and Europe. Was a two-time winner on the Japan Golf Tour where he played in 199 events between 1991 and 2002. In those events, he earned ￥yen264,813,125 (about $2.3 million). He also claimed three titles on the Canadian Tour, was victorious three times in the Philippines, and made eight PGA Tour starts, with a best finish of T-36th at the 1997 Greater Vancouver Open.
When he turned 50 in 2011, he traveled to Europe joining the Senior Tour in 2012 after gaining the fifth unconditional card at Qualifying School. Picked up his maiden win at the 2014 Bad Ragaz PGA Seniors Open in Switzerland, before finishing in a T-3rd at The Senior Open Championship, where he partnered with eventual winner, Bernhard Langer, in the last group on the final day. Also finished in second place at the 2014 Russian Open Golf Championship (Senior) during what has been his best Senior Tour season so far.

2014 Notes: Conditionally-exempt for 2015 by virtue of his 10th-place finish at the Champions Tour Qualifying School. Finished T-10th with Cesar Monasterio after 72 holes, but secured the 10th spot by making par on the first playoff hole.
During the 2015 European Senior Tour, he has missed the cut at the Senior PGA Championship, was T-21st at the SSE Enterprise Wales Senior Open and T-9th at the Acorn Jersey Open.
