Skip Kendall

Kendall was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and after getting a business education degree from UNLV, he turned professional. Bounced around mini-tours until he started playing the Web.Com Tour in 1991. Played that tour for two years with limited success until the end of 1992 when he was medalist at PGA Tour Qualifying School. That finish earned his PGA Tour card for 1993, but he wasn't able to hold on as he finished 129th on the money list, so he returned to the Web.Com tour. In 1994, he won twice and finished fifth on the money list, getting his PGA Tour card for 1995.
The next few years were a revolving door, playing one year on the Web.com Tour, then the next on the PGA Tour until 1997 when he had a good year and finished 74th on the money list. He stayed on the PGA Tour until 2006 when he had to return to the Web.Com tour. Between the two tours, he played in 659 events. On the PGA Tour, he was in 422 tournaments, making the cut in 265. He had 26 top-10 finishes, and was runner-up four times, finishing third, twice. He earned $8,087,631 on that tour. On The Web.Com Tour, he played in 237 events and won four times, finished second, three times and third eight times. He won $1,053,327 on that tour.
While playing at the 2003 Memorial, Kendall sliced off part of his left index finger while cutting a bagel. His finger was surgically repaired, and Kendall was able to return four weeks later. Still, the finger never healed, and he had to change several parts of his game. One thing he is credited for is coming up with the "claw" putting grip, which he taught Chris DiMarco who made it famous. Despite all of the lean times when he was in his 40s, he stuck it out playing mostly on the Web.Com Tour until he turned 50 in September 2014.
2014 Notes: Played in five Champions Tour events after turning 50 in September.Made his Champions Tour debut at the Pacific Links Hawai'i Championship and was T-40th at Kapolei. Open-qualified the next week at the Nature Valley First Tee Open at Pebble Beach and was in contention down the stretch before finishing T-3rd. Thanks to rounds of 65-66 on the weekend at the Greater Hickory Kia Classic, he posted a T-6th finish in October, and it helped him secure a berth in the AT&T Championship the following week as a top-10 finisher not previously exempt. Even though he played in just five events, he was able to earn $206,658 and finish 63rd on the money list and 50th in the Schwab Rankings. Prior to joining the Champions Tour, he competed in 18 Web.com Tour events, making nine cuts. His best finish was T-35 at the Cleveland Open. He finished T-30th at Champions Tour Qualifying School, which gives him no status on the Champions Tour for 2015.
2015 Notes: Played in nine events, open-qualified for the Allianz Championship where he finished T-32nd. Parlayed a sponsor's exemption at the Shaw Charity Classic into a T-10th finish in Calgary. Played at the PGA Tour's Puerto Rico Open in early March, but missed the cut. Was 76th on the money list and 69th in the Schwab rankings. Went to Champions Tour Q-School and finished T-13th, just out of getting conditional status for 2016.
2016 Notes: Played in just four events with his best showing a T-17th at the Principal Charity Classic. Was T-29th at the American Family Insurance Championship. Capped his 2016 season by securing one of the five fully-exempt spots for 2017 at the Champions Tour Qualifying Tournament where he finished T-4th and survived a three-man playoff with Fran Quinn and Gibby Gilbert III for the final two spots.
2017 Notes: Played in 17 PGA Tour events, best finish Was T-13th at the Principal Charity Classic. Went on to finish 69th in the money standings. At the end of the year went back to Q-School and finished T-65th.
2018 Notes: Played in 6 PGA Tour Champions events, best finish T-31st at the Dick's Sporting Goods Open. Went back to PGA Tour Champions Q-School and was T-2nd.
2019 Notes: Best finish T-32nd Rapiscan Systems.
