Felix Casas recorded his lowest finish on the Davidoff Asian Tour Order of Merit in 2001, ending in 79th place. The Filipino star was surprisingly out of sorts although he did reach one high point when he won his national Open for the first time, which was not an event sanctioned on the Davidoff Tour. Felix has come close to winning a Tour event on many occasions. In 2000, he finished joint third at the Wills Indian Open, Ericsson Classic and Mercuries Masters. He is one of the longest hitters on Tour but is often let down by one poor round. In 1999, he led going into the final round of the Casino Filipino Philippine Open before finishing fifth after a last-round 73. And he went into the last day of the season-ending Omega PGA Championship in joint first place with Nico Van Rensburg of South Africa but again failed to step on to the winner's podium, a 71 seeing him finish fifth again. Felix has often been referred to as the â??next Frankie Minoza' and one of his greatest moments was finishing second to Steve Elkington of Australia in the 1996 Honda City Invitational.
