Filippo Celli

Celli got a late start in golf, his dad took him to play when he was 13 years old. In 2020 Celli got a chance to play golf in America when he was offered a scholarship to play at Texas Christian University. He finished 6th at the 2021 Big 12 Championship and 19th at the 2021 NCAA Tallahassee Regional
Celli is a seasoned player who plays at Olgiata Golf Club. Celli won the Italian Amateur in 2019 and finished 5th in stroke play at the 2020 Italian Amateur. He also finished 68th at the Italian Challenge Open on the European Challenge Tour. In 2021 he again played in the Italian Challenge Opening finishing T-34th He then played in his first European Tour event missing the cut in the Italian Open. He was runner-up in the 2021 Italian Amateur Stroke Play Championship
Celli won the European Amateur Championship by a shot over Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen In the event that was played at Parador Campo de Golf El Saler in Spain as Celli shot 69 in the final round for the victory. Celli became the fourth Italian player to lift the trophy, and the third in six years after TCU grad Stefano Mazzoli in 2015 and Luca Cianchetti in 2016. With the win, Celli earned a berth in the 150th Open Championship.
Before winning the European Amateur, Celli played in the Amateur Championship and did not make it to stroke play with rounds of 72-74. He finished T-14th at the St Andrews Links Trophy with rounds of 71-69-71-72.
