Glen Day

Day was born in Mobile, Ala., and raised in Poplarville, Miss., by his mother Jeanne Bass Day. Jeanne was widowed at the age of 28 when Glen was approximately 2 years of age. His grandfather, Glyndol Bass, was young Glen's primary male role model. Bass, an avid golfer, and member at Pearl River Valley Country Club just outside Poplarville, started Glen playing golf when he was 2 to 3 years of age. By the age of 10, he held a 5 handicap and could regularly shoot par. He graduated from Poplarville High School in 1983, attended the University of Oklahoma, then turned professional in 1988.
Day gave up those cards after several seasons in Asia and on the European Tour to play in the United States, finishing T-11 at the 1993 PGA Tour Q-School. He credits his grandfather with encouraging the pursuit of his golf career. In fact, his grandfather co-signed a loan so he could play in Asia and Europe. He played on the PGA Tour full-time between 1994 and 2010 and had his best finish in 1998. He earned $638,938 in three spring tournaments, The Players, Zurich Classic of New Orleans, and Heritage Classic, more than he had made in his 1996 and 1997 seasons combined. He finished 15th on the money list with $1,283,416. The following year (1999), he finished 34th on the money list with earnings of $1,109,513. Even though he made more money in '98 than '99, the latter had to be his best year on tour since he won the Heritage Classic. He played a total of 474 events on the PGA Tour with one victory, four runner-ups, and five third-place finishes. He made 277 cuts and had 38 top 10s with earnings of $9,241,922. Day also played on the Korn Ferry Tour in 2006, '10, '12-'15. In 92 starts, his best finish was 2nd in the 2006 Xerox Classic and Albertsons Boise Open. He finished in the top-10 21 times and made 47 cuts, earning $361,741.
On turning 50, Day went to the PGA Tour Champions Q-School in 2015 but finished T-46th.
2016 Notes: Day got into several tournaments between sponsor exemptions and Tuesday qualifying. His best finish was T-5th at the 3M Championship and T-6th at the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic & Dick's Sporting Goods Open. In 21 events, he finished 37th on the money list and Schwab rankings to gain conditional privileges for 2017.
2017 Notes: Advanced to the season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship and finished the year 25th on the final money list, an improvement of 12 spots from his rookie campaign. He closed the year with four straight top-20 finishes. His best finishes were 4th at the Japan Airlines Championship, 6th at the U.S. Senior Open, and T-6th at the Mississippi Gulf Resort Classic.
2018 Notes: Played in 25 PGA Tour Champions events with six top-ten finishes. Day had rounds of 65-68 and finished T-2nd, 2 shots back of winner Tom Lehman at the weather-shortened Principal Charity Classic. It was his best finish in 55 starts on PGA Tour Champions. He moved up 25 places on the leaderboard after carding a 7-under 65 in the final round to finish T-9th at the Rapiscan Systems Classic. He was T-10th at the Boca Raton Championship. He was T-3rd at the 3M Championship. He got to play in all three playoff events and finished 25th in the Charles Schwab Cup.
2019 Notes: Played in 24 PGA Tour Champions events with nine top-25 finishes. He was 51st on the Schwab rankings. Best finish T-11th in the Chubb Classic, three shots back of the Jimenez/Browne/Langer playoff. He suffered most of the year with traumatic tendinitis in his elbow, and later in the year suffered from three ribs that popped out of his back.
2020 & 2021 Notes: Played in 36 PGA Tour Champions events with eight top-25 finishes. Was 31st on the Schwab rankings
He has been healthy with no pain or injuries, which is the reason for his excellent play. He was T-9th at the Cologuard and T-2nd at the Hoag Classic, two shots back of winner Ernie Els. After the break from COVID-19 was T-10th at the Ally Challenge. Shot a final-round 66 at the Charles Schwab Series at Bass Pro Shops Big Cedar Lodge, which included a birdie on his final hole to find himself in a tie with three others. Shane Bertsch made a birdie on the first hole to win in the four-man playoff. He was T-8th at the Sanford International, five shots back of winner Miguel Angel Jimenez. At the Charles Schwab Cup Championship was T-5th. His best finish in events played in 2021 was T-9th at the Chubb Classic. He was T-10th at the Pure Insurance Championship and finished the year with a T-27th at the Charles Schwab Cup Championship.
2022 Notes: Played in 23 PGA Tour Champions events with one top-ten finish. He was 63rd in the Schwab Cup and 61st on the money list, earning $246,973. Was T-7th at the Mitsubishi Electric Classic, five shots back of winner Steve Flesch. He was T-16th in his last event of the year at the Dominion Energy Charity.
2023 Notes: Best finish T-19th at the Insperity Invitational.
