Juvic Pagunsan

Learned the game at the age of 13 from his father, Juanito, who is also a professional golfer.
Juvic rewrote a slice of history in 2011, becoming the first Filipino to win the coveted Order of Merit trophy. While he did not win a tournament, four top-10s, including a runner-up finish at the cash-rich Barclays Singapore Open, saw him rise to the top. He had a putt in the play-off against Gonzalo Fernandez-Castano to win in Singapore but missed. Also posted top-10s in the ISPS Handa Singapore Classic, Mercuries Taiwan Masters and UBS Hong Kong Open. The sweet-swinging Juvic broke through with a stylish victory at the Pertamina Indonesia President Invitational in 2007. He produced a grandstand finish with a birdie, eagle to pip India's Ghaganjeet Bhullar to the title. It was an emotional triumph for the Filipino as he endured a frustrating front half of the year with poor form due to a shoulder injury. Juvic also came close to a second title at the season-ending Volvo Masters of Asia, leading on the back nine on Sunday but bogeyed the demanding 18th hole at Thai Country Club to lose by one shot to Prayad Marksaeng. He maintained his momentum in 2008, nailing three top-10 finishes that included a runner-up result at the Singha Thailand PGA Championship. He was top-10 in the Bangkok Airways Open and Johnnie Walker Cambodian Open. In 2009, Juvic finished tied third in the Asian Tour International in Bangkok and finished top-10 at the Singha Thailand Open, Brunei Open and Iskandar Johor Open. Also finished tied 14th in the Barclays Singapore Open. In 2010, Juvic capped a solid stretch where he was in contention at the Queen's Cup in Thailand and Brunei Open before finishing in third place. He carried his form into the Worldwide Holdings Selangor Masters and finished tied fourth. After winning numerous amateur titles and clinching two gold medals in the 2005 Southeast Asian Games in Manila, Juvic joined the professional ranks and made an immediate impact. He successfully negotiated Qualifying School by placing 14th. He went on to post top-10 finishes at the Philippine Open, Brunei Open and Volkswagen Masters-China before producing an eye-catching performance at the UBS Hong Kong Open where he challenged Jose Manuel Lara all the way to the title before settling for second place. Finished seventh on the Order of Merit and was named Rookie of the Year. In 2004, Juvic came close to winning the Philippine Open when he was still an amateur. He entered the final day as the co-leader but settled for the runner-up place, three shots behind Edward Michaels.
In 2012 he played full time on the Japan Golf Tour.
