Lars Van Meijel

Van Meijel was a member of the Dutch National Team and represented the Netherlands three times at the European Boys' Team Championship 2010â??2012 and four times at the European Amateur Team Championship 2013â??2016. He also played in the Eisenhower Trophy twice, in 2014 in Japan and 2016 in Mexico.
In 2012, Van Meijel won the Gran Premio Padova, reached the quarterfinals of the Italian Amateur, and played the Talihade Cup in Argentina. In 2013, he won both the Trompbeker (Dutch National U21 Stroke Play Championship) at the Noord-Nederlandse Golf Club and the Dutch National Stroke Play Championship at Golfclub Houtrak. In June 2013, he won the Brabants Open, which earned him a spot in the KLM Open which he missed the cut.
In 2013, Van Meijel enrolled at the University of Memphis and started playing with the Memphis Tigers men's golf team. He won his first college golf tournament, the Shoal Creek Invitational, and his third tournament, the Bridgestone Collegiate. In 2016, he became only the fourth player within the Memphis men's golf program to earn Golf Coaches Association of American (GCAA) Division I All-America honors, joining Hillman Robbins (1954), Greg Powers (1969), and Steve Metz (1986) as All-Americans. He crowned his college career by winning the 2016 Arnold Palmer Cup.
At the end of 2016, Van Meijel turned professional and joined the 2017 Alps Tour. After finishing T-4th in his first tournament the Ein Bay Open, he won his second tournament in Egypt The Red Sea Little Venice Open. After six further top-10s, he finished in fourth place in the ranking, was promoted to the 2018 Challenge Tour.
2018 Notes: Played in 18 Chanllege Tour events making 8 cuts with no top-tens. He was 121st on the order of merit earning euro10,426. Best finish was T-16th at the Prague Golf Challenge and Galgorm Resort & Span Northern Ireland Open.
2019 Notes: Played in 16 Challenge Tour events making 14 cuts with three top-ten finishes. Was 19th on the order of merit winning euro76,498. Won the Hopps Open de Provence, also was T-3rd a tthe D_D Real Slovakia Challenge. Also played in ten Alps tour events, won the Open de la Mirabelle d'Or He earned his European Tour card at Qualifying School just months after securing his maiden Challenge Tour win.
Got to the European Tour in 2020 just when COVID struck. Played in 21 European events making 11 cuts with one top-ten, T-7th at the Joburg Open Was 154th in the order of merit.
2021 Notes: Played in 21 European Tour events making 11 cuts with one top-ten, 7th at the Cazoo Open. Was 174th on the order of merit.
2022 Notes: Played between the Challenge Tour, Sunshine Tour and DP World Tour. On the Challenge Tour was T-10th at the Mangaung Open, T-4th a the Limpopo Championship and T-5th at the D+D REAL Czech Challenge.
Will be making his first major championship start at the Open Championship. He played at the Old Course as an amateur in the St. Andrews Links, so he is looking forward to playing.
