Mike Weir

At age 13, left-handed Mike Weir sought advice from Jack Nicklaus. In a letter, he asked whether he should switch to playing right-handed. The Golden Bear's response was to stick with his natural swing. Weir was the medalist at the 1998 PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament. With his victory at the 2003 Masters, he became the second left-hander to win a major championship, joining New Zealand's Bob Charles, who won the 1963 British Open (has since been joined by Phil Mickelson and Bubba Watson). Member of 2000, '03, '05, '07 and '09 Presidents Cup teams. Played on the Canadian Tour between 1993 and '97. In 1997, he finished 1st in earnings with $80,696 (Canadian dollars), winning twice.
