Rasmus Hojgaard

Rasmus and his twin-brother Nicolai, who is also a professional golfer, started playing the game of golf when they were four years old. Hojgaard first came to prominence in July 2016 when he won the Danish International Amateur Championship, was part of the Danish team that finished third in the European Boys' Team Championship, and won the McGregor Trophy in successive weeks. In 2017 Hojgaard received further recognition at the boys' level by representing Continental Europe in the Jacques Leglise Trophy. He was also part of the Danish team that won the 2017 European Boys Team Championship, beating the hosts Spain in the final.
Early in 2018, Hojgaard played for Europe in the Bonallack Trophy against Asia/Pacific. In June, he won the individual competition for the boys Toyota Junior Golf World Cup, four strokes ahead of his brother Nicolai. Denmark also won the team competition. In September, he was part of the Danish team that won the 2018 Eisenhower Trophy for the first time, and he played for Europe in the Junior Ryder Cup later in the month. Alongside his brother Nicolai, the pair played in the 2018 Junior Ryder Cup together, halving their first match against Akshay Bhatia and Michael Thorbjornsen. Rasmus won his next two matches and ended up with a two-and-a-half point haul in the narrow team defeat.
Hojgaard turned professional at the start of 2019. After playing some tournaments in the Nordic Golf League, he played on the Challenge Tour for the rest of the season. He was one of five runners-up in his first Challenge Tour event, the Challenge de Espana. Although he had a number of other top-10 finishes, he finished 21st in the Order of Merit, missing out on a place on the 2020 European Tour. However, he finished tied for 5th place in the Q School later in 2019 to gain a place on the tour.
In December 2019, Hojgaard won the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open, the season's second event, winning a three-man playoff against Renato Paratore and Antoine Rozner at the third extra hole.
Hojgaard was the first player born in the 2000s to win on the European Tour. He won in only his fifth European Tour start and became the third-youngest winner in Tour history (18 years, 271 days), behind Matteo Manassero (17 years, 189 days) and Danny Lee (18 years, 214 days).
2020 Notes: Played in 19 European Tour events making 10 cuts with six top-ten finishes. He was 16th in the Race to Dubai, and he earned euro639,463. In August 2020, Hojgaard won the ISPS Handa UK Championship in a playoff over Justin Walters for his second European Tour win. He became the second-youngest player to win multiple Tour wins after Matteo Manassero. His other big finish was 2nd at the Betfred British Masters, three shots back of winner Renato Paratore. He was 3rd in the English Championship. He also got to go to America to play in his first event and major, missing the cut at the U.S. Open at Winged Foot. He ended his season finishing T-51st in the DP World Tour Championship, Dubai.
2021 Notes: Played in 19 DP World Tour events making 14 cuts with four top-ten finishes. Was 35th in the Race to Dubai. He was T-9th at the Omega Dubai Desert Classic and T-6th at the Saudi International, four shots back of winner Dustin Johnson. He was T-12th at the Austrian Golf Open. He was T-3rd at the Cazoo Classic, two shots back of winner Calum Hill. Next week he won the Omega European Masters by a shot over Bernd Wiesberger. He ended his season with a T-27th finish at the DP World Tour Championship.
2022 Notes: Played in 23 DP World Tour events making 22 cuts with six top-ten finishes. Was 16th in the Race to Dubai. He was 6th at the Corales Puntacana Championship, three back of winner Chad Ramey. He was T-10th at the Dutch Open and Genesis Scottish Open. Starting at the Cazoo Open De France, he played his last six events with four top-tens. At the French Open was 2nd, a shot back of winner Guido Migliozzi. He was 5th at the Andalucia Masters, T-8th at the Nedbank Golf Challenge, and T-7th in the season-ending DP World Tour Championship.
2023 Notes: T-6th at the Ras Al Khaimah Championship, three shots back of winner Daniel Gavins. He finished T-3rd at the KLM Open, three shots back of the winner Pablo Larrazabal. Shot a final round 64 and found himself in a playoff with Nacho Elivra. Won the playoff with a par on the sixth extra hole.
