Alice Hewson

Hewson grew up in Berkhamsted, Hertfordshire. At the age of six, she started playing golf with her Dad and played in her first tournament on her seventh birthday. She won the England U13 championships and was on the National U18 team at age 15. Her first GB&I cap came at age 15 in the Junior Vagliano Trophy, and she played in three Vagliano Trophies. She also represented Great Britain & Ireland in the Curtis Cup in 2016 and 2018 and the Astor Trophy.
Hewson represented England twice at the European Girls' Team Championship and five times at the European Ladies' Team Championship. She was the only player to be part of both England teams to win the European Ladies' Team Championships consecutively in 2016 and 2017.
Hewson attended Clemson University from 2015-2019 and majored in accounting. She won her first two tournaments as a freshman, and by the time she graduated, she held 49 records at Clemson.
She played in the inaugural Augusta National Women's Amateur in 2019 and finished T10 with an even-par score. Also, in 2019, she captured the European Ladies Amateur Championship. She scored two eagles coming from seven shots behind in the final round to win in a five-hole playoff. The win qualified for her first major, the 2019 Women's British Open, played at Woburn Golf and Country Club, less than 30 minutes from her home. She missed the cut and soon after turned pro.
2020 Notes: Hewson finished 5th at LET Q-School at La Manga Club and started her LET career with a win in her first event, the Investec South African Women's Open at Westlake Golf Club in Cape Town in mid-March. The 22-year-old came from three shots behind Olivia Cowan to win by a shot. Unfortunately, it was the last tournament played before the COVID-19 pandemic caused a global halt. To keep sharp during the lockdown, she played in the Rose Ladies Series, where she won the Grand Final with scores of 67 and 70 and was ahead of seasoned campaigners and Solheim Cup stars such as Charley Hull and Georgia Hall. When the lockdown was lifted, playing in her second LET as a pro at the ASI Ladies Scottish Open finished T-39th. She played in a total of eight LET events during the year and finished the season 18th at the Andalucia Open De Espana. She was 11th on the Race to Costa del Sol and second on the Rookie of the Year standings.
2021 notes: Played in 17 LET events, making 16 cuts with five top-10 finishes. She was 8th in the Race to Costa del Sol and 10th in earnings. Best finishes were a pair of thirds. One came in a joint event with the men's European Tour, finishing as low woman in the Scandinavian Mixed Hosted by Henrik & Annika, shooting a final-round 69 to finish 3rd, just two shots back of winner Jonathan Caldwell. Another big accomplishment for the week, she was the only player in the field to shoot four rounds in the 60s. Hewson was T-3rd at The Saudi Ladies International, shooting a second-round 64 but ultimately finishing 10 strokes behind runaway winner Lydia Ko.
2022 Notes: Played in 25 LET events making 16 cuts with 5 top-ten finishes. She was 12th in the Race to Costa Del Sol and was 21st on the money list with earnings of euro147,279. She was T-3rd at the Joburg Ladies Open., six shots back of the winner Linn Grant. She was T-8th at the Australian Women's Classic and Women's NSW Open. Finished T-3rd at the Skafto Open, two shots back of the winner Linn Grant. Shot a final round 65 at the final event of the season Andalucia Open De Espana to finish T-5th, three shots back of the Caroline Hedwall/Morgane Metraux playoff.
2023 Notes: Started her season finishing T-2nd at the Magical Kenya Ladies Open, nine shots back of the winner Aditi Ashok. She was named to England?s team for the Hanwha Lifeplus International Crown, along with Liz Young, as injury replacements for Charley Hull and Georgia Hall.
