Candie Kung

Started playing golf at the age of 13 and credits her father, mother, and brother as the individuals most influencing her career. Kung was born in Chinese Taipei and moved to the United States in 1995. She became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 2005. She does not hold dual citizenship.
Was a three-time American Junior Golf Association All-American selection and was named 1999 AJGA Player of the Year.
Won the 2001 U.S. Women's Amateur Public Links Championship with a 2-up victory over Missy Farr-Kaye in the final at Kemper Lakes Golf Club in Long Grove, Ill. Was runner-up to Beth Bauer in the 1997 U.S. Girls' Junior.
While at the University of Southern California, was a two-time NCAA All-America selection and won the 2000 Pac-10 Championship.
In 2001, turned professional in August and competed on the Futures Tour where she won the final event of the season, the Futures Tour Championship. T-15th at the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament to earn non-exempt status for the 2002 LPGA season.
In 2002, T-4th at the Weetabix Women's British Open. Recorded her first LPGA career hole-in-one during the third round of the Wegmans Rochester LPGA.
In 2003, won three tournaments: the LPGA Takefuji Classic, Wachovia LPGA Classic hosted by Betsy King and the rain-shortened State Farm Classic, where she crossed the $1 million mark in career earnings.
In 2004, the best of her 10 top-10 finishes was 3rd-place at the John Q. Hammons Hotel Classic.
In 2005, recorded seven top-10 finishes, including a runner-up finish at the Chick-fil-A Charity Championship, where she crossed the $2 million mark in career earnings. Finished 4th at the HSBC Women's World Match Play Championship, where she defeated top-ranked Annika Sorenstam in the quarterfinals before losing to eventual champion Marisa Baena in the semifinals.
In 2006, recorded three top-10 finishes, including a T-3rd at the Honda LPGA Thailand 2006.
In 2007, best finish was T-18th at both the Jamie Farr Owens Corning Classic and the CN Canadian Women's Open. Crossed the $3 million mark in career earnings at the Wegmans LPGA.
In 2008, recorded her fourth LPGA Tour victory at the Hana Bank-Kolon Championship. Recorded five additional top-10 finishes, including a T-2nd at the Navistar LPGA Classic, where she and Cristie Kerr lost a two-hole, sudden-death playoff to Lorena Ochoa.
In 2009, best finish was runner-up at the U.S. Women's Open at Saucon Valley Country Club in Bethlehem, Pa., where she lost by one stroke to Eun-Hee Ji. It was her career-best finish in a major championship.
In 2010, best finish was T-3rd at the Kia Classic.
In 2011, best finish was T-13th at the U.S. Women's Open. Crossed the $5 million mark in career earnings after finishing T-18th at the Sime Darby LPGA Malaysia.
2012 Notes: Played in 25 events, making 20 cuts. She had three top-10 finishes and recorded a season-best runner-up finish at the Sybase Match Play Championship when she lost to Azahara Munoz in the finals. Kung earned $485,963 which ranked 28th on the Tour money list.
2013 Notes: Played in 25 events, making 21 cuts. Had two top-10 finishes, with a best finish of T-5th at HSBC Women's Championship. She earned $228,929 which placed her 54th on the Tour money list.
2014 Notes: She was 71st on the money list with $191,664 and 71st in CME points with 21 cuts made in 26 starts. Her best finish was T-15th at the Marathon Classic.
2015 Notes: Played in 26 events and made 23 cuts, she was 29th on the money list and 26th in CME points. Saved her best golf for the end of the year, only one top-10 in her first 16 events, had 3 top-5s in her last 10 events. She was T-2nd at the Cambia Portland Classic, 8 back of winner Brooke Henderson. She had her second straight top-5 finish with a T-5th at the Canadian Pacific Women's Open. Kung was the 54-hole leader after a third-round 64, but shot 74 Sunday to fall back. She had her second runner-up finish of the year at the Blue Bay LPGA in China, when she was a shot back of Sei Young Kim. Kung missed a nine-foot birdie putt on the last hole that would have forced a playoff.
2016 Notes: Played in 25 LPGA events making 23 cuts and finishing 5 times in the top-25. Best finish was T-2nd at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship, 3 back of winner Lydia Ko. Also had a T-4th at the HSBC Women's Champions, T-5th at the Fubon LPGA Taiwan Championship and T-6th Yokohama Tire LPGA Classic. Was 25th on the money list with $643,469 and 42nd in CME points. She was T-31st in the Rio Olympics representing Chinese Taipei.
2017 Notes: Played in 28 LPGA events making 25 cuts, she had 2 top-ten finishes. T-5th at the Indy Women in Tech Championship and T-9th at the Cambia Portland Classic was 55th on the money list.
2018 Notes: T-23rd at the Volunteers of America LPGA Texas Classic.
