Elizabeth Nagel

Started playing golf competitively at age 8. Her father, John, put a club in her hand as soon as she could hold it. He is a certified PGA professional and also played on tour before she was born.
A cancer survivor, Nagel was diagnosed with thyroid cancer in her junior year at Michigan State. She underwent major surgery to remove her thyroid and cancerous lymph node in her neck. She wouldn't have known about her condition had she not gone to see the team doctor at Michigan State after suffering from common cold symptoms.
Graduated from Michigan State in 2014 and turned professional that summer. She is currently a rookie on tour. As a three-year starter for the Spartans, she collected one win and earned All-Big Ten honors twice. She won the National Golf Coaches Association Kim Moore Spirit Award for her battle with cancer. Owns the fourth-best scoring average in MSU history. Finished in the top 40 at LPGA Qualifying School last year to earn her card for this year. Has two top-20 finishes on the Symetra Tour this season.
If she wasn't a professional golfer, she would be a wedding planner or a Disney princess.
Loves watching sports and cheering on all Michigan State teams along with the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Red Wings. Calls herself a "true Midwestern girl" and enjoys spending time on the lakes in Michigan. Loves exploring new places.
Her immediate family members include her father, John; mother, Nancy; sister, Madelynne; and brother, Will.
