Hee-Won Han

Started playing golf at the age of 9. Married Hyuk Son on Dec. 24, 2003. Gave birth to son, Dale, in 2007. Recorded 48 victories as an amateur, including the 1991 U.S. Optimist World Junior Tournament, the 1994 Pacific Asia Amateur Championship, the 1995 Orange Bowl World Junior Series, the 1996 World Amateur Golf Championship and the 1999 Osaka Ladies Open. A member of the 1992-97 National Conference Team and a silver medalist at the 1994 Hiroshima Asia Games.
In 1998, turned professional and was named the Japan LPGA Rookie of the Year. Also competed professionally in Korea. In 1999, won two tournaments on the JLPGA the NEC Kairuzawa Tournament and Osaka Women's Open and finished fifth on the money list. In 2000, tied for 27th at the LPGA Final Qualifying Tournament to earn non-exempt status for the 2001 season.
In 2001, won the Louise Suggs Rolex Rookie of the Year award on the strength of four top-20 finishes, becoming the first non-exempt player to win the honor since Lisa Hackney (Hall) in 1997. Successfully Monday-qualified in seven of 11 attempts, her best finish was a tie for 10th at the Kathy Ireland Championship.
In 2002, finished second three times: the Longs Drugs Challenge, the Sybase Big Apple Classic, where she lost to fellow South Korean Gloria Park on the first hole of sudden-death, and the Wendy's Championship for Children at Tartan Fields.
In 2003, became a Rolex First-Time Winner at the Sybase Big Apple Classic presented by Lincoln Mercury, an event in which she finished second the year prior. Also followed a second-place finish from 2002 with a three-hole, sudden-death playoff win over Wendy Ward at the Wendy's Championship for Children at Tartan Fields. Finished second to Dorothy Delasin at the Mobile LPGA Tournament of Champions after a one-hole playoff. Crossed the $1 million mark in career earnings after the Wegmans Rochester LPGA. Won the State Farm LPGA Series Bonus Pool.
In 2004, won her third-career title at the Safeway Classic, where she defeated Lorie Kane on the first hole of a sudden-death playoff. Finished second to Catriona Matthew after a one-hole, sudden-death playoff at the Wendy's Championship for Children. Crossed the $2 million mark in career earnings with a tie for fourth at the Michelob ULTRA Open, and recorded her first LPGA career hole-in-one during the second round of the Chick-fil-A Charity Championship.
In 2005, won her fourth-career title at the Office Depot Championship. Followed this win with a runner-up finish at the Longs Drugs Challenge. Tied for fourth at the LPGA Corning Classic and crossed the $3 million mark in career earnings at the Wegmans Rochester LPGA.
In 2006, recorded two wins, including a victory at the LPGA Corning Classic, where she defeated Meena Lee in a four-hole, sudden-death playoff. Also won the Honda LPGA Thailand 2006, where she carded all rounds in the 60s. Posted 10 top-10 finishes and was one of a record 11 players on Tour to earn more than $1 million in season earnings. Finished in the top-five in five consecutive tournaments she played, including two consecutive runner-up finishes at the Michelob ULTRA Open at Kingsmill and at the Sybase Classic.
In 2007, played in just seven events due to the birth of her son, but recorded two top-10 finishes, including a season-best seventh at the SBS Open at Turtle Bay.
In 2008, recorded nine top-10 finishes, including ties for third at both the Wegmans LPGA and Hana Bank KOLON Championship 2008. Carded a career-low 61 in the third round of the LPGA State Farm Classic, which set an LPGA record for the lowest third-round score. Crossed the $5 million mark in career earnings at the Ginn Open, where she finished tied for 13th, and carded her second LPGA career hole-in-one at the Kraft Nabisco Championship.
In 2009, her best finish was a tie for third at the Ricoh Women's British Open, her career-best finish at a major championship, and tied for third at the LPGA State Farm Classic.
In 2010, best finish was a tie for fourth at the ShopRite LPGA Classic.
In 2011, best finish was a tie for sixth at the CN Canadian Women's Open. Added a top-10 finish at the Sunrise LPGA Taiwan Championship 2011 where she finished 10th.
In 2012, played in 25 events, 21 cuts made, $269,771 (46). She had one top-10 finish at the ShopRite LPGA Classic where she tied for fifth.
In 2013, has competed in 12 events on the LPGA Tour, has made the cut six times, her best finish T28th at the ISPS Handa Women's Australian Open.
