Liz Young

Liz started playing golf at the age of 12 with her older brother James. She attended the University of Iowa and earned a BA in Economics. In April 2013, Liz married Jonathan Young and changed her maiden name Bennett to her married name Young. Aside from golf, Liz enjoys playing badminton, shopping, and reading in her spare time. She is an ambassador at Brokenhurst Manor Golf Club in Hampshire, where she runs a junior academy.
In 2009, Liz posted two top-10 finishes: 6th at the Open de Espana Femenino and T-9th at the Finnair Masters in Finland.
In 2010, Liz recorded a season-best T-16th at the Women's Australian Open at Commonwealth Golf Club in Melbourne. Finished 60th on the Henderson Money List with the season's earnings of euro37,366.63 from 20 events.
In 2011, her third year on the LET, Liz played in 19 tournaments with a career-best finish of 4th at the Aberdeen Ladies Scottish Open at Archerfield Links in East Lothian. She earned euro39,738.81 during the season to end 61st on the Money List.
In 2012, Liz played 19 events and recorded two top-10s, including a T-8th finish at the Hero Women's Indian Open and T-9th at the Ladies Irish Open. She finished 60th on the ISPS Handa Order of Merit with total earnings of euro48,917.48.
In 2013, Liz played in 17 events and made 15 cuts, posting two top-10 finishes, with her best result being T-4th at the Allianz Ladies Slovak Open. She fired a career-low 65 in the third and final round of the ISPS HANDA New Zealand Women's Open at Clearwater Golf Club, where she ended T-5th and matched that score with another 65 in the third round of the Allianz Ladies Open. Liz recorded five additional top-20s and finished 23rd on the Order of Merit: her most successful season in five years on Tour.
In 2015, Liz played in 15 tournaments and had two top-10 finishes in the Hero Women's Indian Open and Xiamen International Ladies Open in China. She finished 25th on the Order of Merit as the eighth-ranked British player.
In 2014, Liz played in 21 tournaments and recorded three top-10 finishes, including a season-best T-5th at the Allianz Ladies Slovak Open and Omega Dubai Ladies Masters.
In 2016, Liz competed in eight LET tournaments and secured three top-15 finishes. Liz's best performance of the season came at the Tipsport Golf Masters, where she was T-8th. Liz took some time away from the Tour on maternity leave after the birth of her first child (Isabelle Mae Young).
In 2017, Liz returned to the LET, playing in eight events, with her best result being T-19th in India.
In 2018, Liz made seven appearances, and her best finish was T-21st in India.
In 2019, she played in 12 events and recorded five top-20 finishes to end the season ranked 28th on the Order of Merit.
In 2020, Liz played six events and made five cuts, recording a season-best of 8th at the VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open. Finished the season with a strong performance at the Saudi Ladies Team International (T-12th) to end the year in 60th place on the Race to Costa del Sol.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Young, along with the then head professional Jason MacNiven at her home club Brokenhurst Manor, proposed a tournament in which lady professionals could compete once again under COVID restrictions. This Ladies Open competition was reported by Kate Rowan in the Daily Telegraph and rapidly became a series of 10 tournaments around England following the support of Kate and Justin Rose culminating in a series final at the Wentworth Club.
In 2021, Liz earned her first professional win in the Rose Ladies Series event at Woburn. Liz made 18 LET appearances and recorded two individual top-20 finishes to be 44th in the Race to Costa del Sol, while her team was T-6th at the Aramco Team Series - New York.
2022 Notes: Played in 23 LET events making 18 cuts with 3 top-ten finishes. She finished 11th on the Race to Costa Del Sol. She was T-8th at the Big Green Egg Open and 7th at the ISPS Handa World Invitational. She won for the first time on the LET at the VP Bank Swiss Ladies Open, she was a shot better than Linn Grant. She won in her 200th LET start.
2023 Notes: Best finish T-12th at the Joburg Ladies Open and Investec SA Women's Open.
