She started playing golf when she was three. By the time she reached her late teens, she was one of the better amateurs in the country. Lee lives in South Carolina and has spent time working with legendary college coach Puggy Blackmon. Her hobbies include online shopping and reading novels. Her greatest passion, outside of golf, is baseball.
She played in KLPGA events, including the 2010 Daewoo Securities Classic, where she contended for two rounds before finishing T-19th.
Still, in her teens, Lee turned professional in late 2011 and attended LPGA Qualifying School. She finished T-29th to earn limited membership on the LPGA tour for 2012 but played mostly on the developmental Symetra Tour.
She won the 2012 Symetra Classic on the Epson Tour, finished 6th on the money list to retain her LPGA Tour card for 2013, and also won Symetra Tour Rookie of the Year honors.
2013 Notes: Played in 17 events on the LPGA Tour, making 10 cuts. Recorded a season-best T-19th finish at The Evian Championship, she finished 92nd on the money list to maintain her card.
2014 Notes: She was 31st on the money list and 37th in CME Points, with 22 cuts made in 27 starts. She earned her first LPGA victory in a playoff over Kotono Kozuma and Ilhee Lee in the Mizuno Classic in November. Lee made a birdie on the fifth extra hole to win after the players tied at 11-under 205. She also won the ISPS Handa New Zealand Women's Open in February, co-sanctioned by the Ladies European Tour and the ALPG Tour, shooting a final-round course-record 63 to win the Handa New Zealand Women's Open in February by one shot over local favorite Lydia Ko.
2015 Notes: Played in 29 starts making 27 cuts finishing 22nd on the money list and 25th in CME points. She had four top-10s, with her best at the Founders Cup when she shot 68-68 on the weekend to finish T-3rd. At the ANA Inspiration, she opened with a 74, rallying over the last three rounds to finish T-8th. She was the 54-hole leader at the Evian Championship but shot a final-round 74 to finish T-4th, nine strokes back of Lydia Ko, who shot 63 on Sunday. She finished T-2nd at the Japan Women's Open, losing a playoff to In Gee Chun.
2016 Notes: Played in 27 LPGA events making 23 cuts. She had two top-10s, her best was 2nd at the Manulife LPGA Classic, and one back of winner Caroline Masson. She was 42nd on the money list with $442,976 and 28th in CME points. Shot a career-low 62 in the first round of the Founders Cup where she finished T-13th.
2017 Notes: Played in 27 LPGA events making 21 cuts. She came back from a six-shot deficit to win her second career LPGA title at the Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open, and tallied 5 additional top-10 finishes. Other top-10s, T-4th at the KPMG Women's PGA Championship, T-5th at the Manulife LPGA Classic, T-5th at Toto Japan Classic, 9th at Evian Championship, and T-10th at Blue Bay LPGA. She was 26th on the money list.
2018 Notes: Played in 25 LPGA Tour events making 14 cuts with three top-10 finishes. Best was T-7th a the Indy Women in Tech Championship she shot 66 in the final round to finish 5 back of the Park/Salas playoff. T-8th at the Volunteers of America LPGA Texas Classic and T-10th at the Evian Championship. She was 60th on the money list with $358,465 and 60th in the Race to CME.
2019 Notes: Played in 28 LPGA Tour events making 25 cuts with three top-ten finishes. She was 35th on the money list with $627,6115 in earnings and was 31st on the CME points list. Lee was 2nd at the ANA Inspiration, finishing 3 shots back of winner Jin Young Ko. Was 4th at the Aberdeen Asset Management Ladies Scottish Open, four shots back of winner Mi Hung Hur.
2020 Notes: Played in 12 LPGA Tour events making 9 cuts with one top-ten finish. She was 63rd on the money list with $190,083 in earnings and finished 60th on the CME points list. Best finish T-6th at the ISPS Handa Women's Australian Open, six shots back of winner Inbee Park. Best finish after the COVID-19 break, T-11th at the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship.
2021 Notes: Played in 22 LPGA Tour events making 11 cuts. Best finish, T-14 at the ANA Inspiration.
2022 Notes: Played in 15 LPGA Tour events making 9 cuts. She was 116th on the CME Rankings and 125th on the money list with earnings of $86,223. He best finish was T-22nd at the ISPS Handa World Womans.
2023 Notes: Best finish T-13th at the Dow Great Lakes Bay Invitational with Jeong Eun Lee as her partner.
