Amateur
Winner of the Nevada State Amateur from 1975-78 and the California Amateur in 1978-79, Sheehan reached the pinnacle of her amateur career when she claimed the 1980 AIAW National Championship title. She was the runner-up, behind Carolyn Hill, at the 1979 U.S. Women's Amateur Championship. Sheehan also was a member of the U.S. Curtis Cup Team in 1980, where she won all four of her matches.
