Sofia Gronberg-Whitmore

Alongside Helen Alfredsson and Liselotte Neumann, Gronberg-Whitmore was one of the pioneers of women's professional golf in Sweden in the 1980s. She spent two years at the University of Alabama and later married Englishman John Whitmore, residing in Warwickshire, England for part of her career.
Gronberg-Whitmore played on the Ladies European Tour between 1989 and 2001 and won three times and was the runner-up at the 1994 La Manga Spanish Open and the 1994 Sens Ladies' Dutch Open. She won the 19889 Rome Classic, 1999 Air France Madame Biarritz Open and the inaugural Cantor Fitzgerald Laura Davies Invitational at Brocket Hall. She also won the 1988 IBM Ladies Open on the Tella Tour. She has played in over 200 events in her career and today plays on the Swedish Golf Tour Ladies. In 2018, she finished 27th at the Tegelberga Open and 15th at the Hinton Golf Open. She has only played once in America, missing the cut at the 2001 Women's Open. She has a boy and a girl and they live in Halmstad, Sweden.
