Andrew Dodt

Dodt was born in Queensland, Australia and picked up the sport at the age of four. He lived next to the Gatton Golf Club where he learnt the game thanks to his father?s influence. He is a good friend of Aaron Baddeley, and was a member of the Golf Australia National Squad and won many high-profile amateur tournaments including the 2007 Australian Amateur Stroke Play. That win gave Dodt a spot in the 2007 MFS Australian Open at The Australian Golf Club in December. He turned professional at the conclusion of that tournament, and joined the Asian Tour for the 2008 season.
Dodt finished his debut season ranked 43rd on the Order of Merit, and improved to 15th in 2009. He won his first professional tournament at the 2010 Avantha Masters, which was co-sanctioned with the European Tour. After that had a couple of lean years in Europe, spent the majority of 2014 on the Asian Tour after losing his card in Europe in 2013. He came close to winning his second title on the Asian Tour before settling for second place behind Thaworn Wiratchant at the 2014 King?s Cup in Thailand.
Returned to form in stunning style by capturing the inaugural True Thailand Classic in February 2015. Produced a brilliant five under par 67 in the final round to win by one from compatriot Scott Hend and home favorite Thongchai Jaidee, just three months after he regained his European Tour playing rights at the Qualifying School Final Stage.
2015 Notes: Played in 18 European Tour events making 12 cuts with the win at the True Thailand Classic. He won by a shot over Scott Hend and Thongchai Jaidee. He came from four shots behind in the final round with a five-under-par round to claim the victory. He was 75th in the Race to Dubai with euro473,261 in earnings.
2016 Notes: Played in 20 European Tour events making 7 cuts. Had a 5th place finish at the AfrAsia Bank Mauritius Open but in his next 13 events only played on the weekend 4 times, the best finish a 37th place finish at the Italian Open. Ended up 145th in the Race to Dubai with only euros143,803
2017 Notes: After a dismal finish to his 2016, his game started heating up. It started with a T-8th in the NSW Open on the Australian Tour, then a runner-up finish at the Australian PGA Championship following the next week with a T-3rd at the UBS Hong Kong Open. Had another top-ten with a T-6th at the BMW PGA Championship and with his T-4th finish at the Scottish Open got a last minute invite for the Open Championship at Birkdale.
