Youngest rookie on PGA Tour in 2007 after earning card via T13 finish at 2006 PGA Tour Qualifying Tournament at PGA West, where the California native grew up playing the game. Three-time All-American (2004-2006) and NCAA Freshman of the Year (2004) at Oklahoma. One of three finalists for 2006 Ben Hogan Award. Won two events as a junior and finished the season as the seventh-ranked collegiate golfer by Golfweek. Member of the victorious 2005 USA Walker Cup Team.
Runner-up at the 2006 U.S. Amateur Public Links Championship at Golf Mountain Golf Club, where he fell to Casey Watabu in the final, 4 and 3. A semifinalist at the championship in 2005.
Turned professional in August 2006 after three years at the University of Oklahoma. Received sponsor exemption into the Valero Texas Open and finished T-2 in his PGA Tour debut. The top-10 finish earned a spot in the Southern Farm Bureau Classic where he finished T16. In just two starts, earned $338,067. Also competed in two Nationwide Tour events.
Member of the victorious 2005 United States Walker Cup. Played on the 2008 Ryder Cup team and on the 2009 Presidents Cup team.
After winning in Houston, withdrew from The Players Championship in early May of 2010 because of a left thumb injury and underwent surgery to repair a partially torn ligament. Made his first start back at the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational in August.
